Btw, there is this awesome place called Roberta's in Brooklyn. Delicious Pizza. Their new location in Miami is also delicious.

Just wanted to add those keg emails are for retail customers. One of my friends told me that OH kegs are under $200 for bars

I thought we'd see an other half brewpub in BK before we saw 2 new other half breweries outside the city. I legitimately thought other half and half acre would combine forces to create Other Half Acre Brewpub and become the next US beer destination for one off brews and dynamite food.

My go to is picking up Roberta's and taking it to the Well. They are one of the best beer bars in the city imo and allow outside food.

OH seems to have already written the playbook for what they're doing, at least partially. They started the Rochester releases a while back to drum up hype for the new brewery there. The fact that they purchased a brewery and even announced it online would seem to indicate that they'll be opening in the short to nearer term.

In DC the space that they have presumably purchased is not a brewery and therefore would almost certainly be open well after the Roch location, not to mention them having to deal with all the DC red tape. Plus this is the first can release they've done in the city so it all seems like a longer term play.

I'm a little baffled as to why people are so mad about the decrease of their drafts. For years the continued gripe was not enough cans which they seem to have finally satisfied and dedicated themselves to furthering. They said at the onset of the brewery, if you go back and watch interviews, that their goal was good draft beer available, but they've clearly pivoted from that to satisfy customer demand.

I think they mean that the space in Rochester was already a brewery but the space in DC does not seem to be, so if they are going to brew down there, they would have to do construction first and that will take some time.

They’ve already proven they can dramatically up their production without even the slightest drop off in quality. Why would anyone worry about expansion at this point? Good for them. They have a superior product they want to share with as many people as possible. And make as much money as possible. And buy as many inferior hand dryers as, oh.. wait

Sorry if I missed it. I think question asked before and maybe I missed an answer.

But is there an actual confirmation on DC beyond a semi-random fbook post? Just want to make sure I’m getting worked up over something that’s actually real

Someone mentioned that he saw a post on Facebook that someone in some random beer group's uncle's cousin saw a cat in front of a building in DC with a for rent sign. If you squint really hard it kinda looks like Gangsta Cat so that must mean Other Half signed a lease.

Yeah I’m sorry Rob. Robert? Just trying to figure stuff out. By the way while I have your attention. I’m going to be in town on Tuesday April 23rd next year. What are my chances of picking up cans of a collab should a collab have been released at some point in the preceding two weeks. Assume it’s 52F and overcast with a 21% chance of rain.

it's great that they're churning out enough cans to make them available consistently at the brewery! that doesn't preclude them from selling the less hypey stuff to more draft accounts though. it doesn't have to be one or the other, there is a market for both.

I don't really see the upside for them on that one. There's inherent risk with distributing your draft to anyone and everyone. Mainly that it won't be handled properly. Then you have places that aren't craft bars selling a $8-$10 beer to a curious customer who just ends up pissed off because all they taste is a beer tainted by a dirty line or that was left out in the heat. Focusing on places like As Is, Haymaker, etc just makes sense.

someone in the group spoke to the OH staff at the dc release, and says they were told that a lease was signed for a location in DC metro. considering they did pop up releases upstate and have now announced a rochester location, it adds up. was this person full of shit? its possible.
