Small geographical quibble, but they are in Munster, Indiana.

As the manager at the local postal substation told me a while ago, "once the mail leaves the US, all bets are off."

Even though you've never had a problem with mail from the US, it's entirely possible that the package disappeared into the black hole of international mail.

Before you diss them further, you might shoot Platform a quick e-mail and ask them if they ever sent the swag you told them you didn't want in the first place.

I did, they never replied to me. I did mention this, the lack of reading comprehension in this thread is astonishing. I'm done repeating myself here.

    Welcome to America,

Land of the entitled. Most people in our country do not read things fully, just take in a part they want to know and make shit up from there.

Any wonder how Trump got in and how we are slowly becoming a stupid, lazy, weak, angry country.

    Enjoy

Bad beers happen sometimes and it's unfortunate, places are in locations that are a hassle, sometimes things slip, nothing is always perfect. But.... Good customer service is free, it costs nothing but patience sometimes. It's also the quickest way to derail your investment given the industry kinda depends on tips as a goodly amount of their income. Customers I'm sure can be assholes and given alcohol is involved maybe a higher incidence of bad customers than perhaps other retail businesses. But you still need to be nice, be helpful, and make things right where you can. Some of the stories here are simply preventable.

I’ve had plenty of shitty beer experiences, oxidized, overcarbonated etc. But I’ve never been compelled to email a brewery to ask them for an explanation because I soooo desperately need one.

I wish I could find more breweries that actually charge less that $7 a pint. That's the new normal..

Bad experiences with breweries I think Lost Abbey takes the mark and the box set thing they did a few years ago claiming it was a "lottery" was the most appalling cash grab I think I've ever seen from a brewery.

Huh,but that’s not a violation. It’s pretty much understood everywhere but there obviously.
I’d name them so others know how they work things.

Awesome? First of all, this thread wasn't titled "please tell us in a general way if you've experienced shitty things in the beer world". Second, why wouldn't you want to know why your shitty beer experience was a shitty beer experience when it clearly was not meant to be? Lastly, if the place with the shitty beer experience doesn't realize they are providing a shitty beer experience, then no one will go and they will not be open any more to provide that shitty beer experience. So you are helping yourself, other potential customers and hopefully the brewery in the process. It depends on what your threshold of shittyness is too. Mine is fairly low but if you're running a business/brewery, I would think it should also be low and feedback would be appreciated.

I haven't had too many bad experiences at a brewery, other than maybe waiting 5+ hours in a line in freezing rain at Portsmouth Brewing for a Kate the Great release that I found out they started handing out the tickets for bottles 4+ hours early...
Maybe the closest was when I was at a family wedding, and the morning after, on our way home, stopped at a brewery on the way. They were supposed to open at noon, we got there 12:30, quarter of 1, and the staff was just getting there, opening everything up. I gathered from their conversation as they were ignoring us that there was a party of some sort the night before, but still. I did get some beer, and they looked like they had some really interesting stuff going on, but even if I get back that way (probably even chances) I won't go back there.

Stumbled upon this... figured I'd put my two cents in before this gets archived.

Chesapeake Brewing. The only brewery in Annapolis (until Forward opens up next year). Annapolis deserves better. The bartender was a complete douche. He ignored me and my girlfriend, while shamelessly hitting on this girlfriend who kept mentioning the fact that she had a boyfriend. In addition to that, a customer returned a disgusting looking pizza which had ants and cockroaches on it. The bartender blamed it on them eating outside, yeah right. The bar was also sticky, the guy couldn't even be bothered to wipe it down.

BTW, I meant to say he was hitting on "this girl" (not my girlfriend).

Stopped by Clouds in Raleigh, NC. A few people there but it certainly would NOT be defined as “crowded”. It’s like 3pm on a Monday.

Sit down at bar and it takes 5 minutes for someone to ask if they can help us. We Ask for menu.

10 minutes later, no menu. Second bartender asks us if they can help. Yes, menu please.

Proceed to watch said bartender run errands around bar for 10 more minutes before we finally decide we should just leave.

    still can’t believe it.

I had an experience at a brewery. The head brewmaster comes out and hanging out at the bar. This person had a big chip on their shoulder. Probably the most arrogant person I have ever met so far in my tours of breweries. First, the guy did not know anything about a Cicerone. Most of the beers on tap were good but the IPA they put in cans was tasty. They were basically telling me they had the best beers within a 250-mile radius.

Tonopah brewing in Tonopah NV. Stopped in on the way to death valley to get some beer too go, saw they had a new crowler machine with 12 oz cans (shoulda been my first sign to run), order a 6pack of 2 each of the three most interesting things (been here once before, knew the beer isn't anything special). Old lady bartending starts telling me how much she doesn't like the cans and how she can't fill them right, doesn't do a great job, and then tells me the price per can is the same as the pint price! Since the cans were filled and that weird desert town creeps me out I bought the worst 24$ 6 pack (at least their pint price is cheap) of all time and got the fuck on

If those kids want to hang out at a brewery, they need to toughen up.

Ommegang has had food for literally as long as I've been going there, which is more than 10 years.

That said -- I don't love the taproom. The food is good, and the beer is obviously very good, but the place just feels like an upscale hotel lobby more than a bar. IDK if it's because the back of the bar is legit 15 feet from the front of the bar, or the carpet/wallpaper situation or the noise level or what, I just don't enjoy drinking there.

Edit: I haven't been in 2-3 years and just looked at pics and they apparently have completely and totally renovated the inside. Looks way more like a bar/brewery there now. I'm only like an hour away so I guess a return trip is in order.
