Good morning BA, have a great Sunday. Not much going on, another normal Sunday with bottle returns, laundry, and a grocery run later on. Hope everyone is enjoying the mid holiday weekend.

Fantastic gose, haven't had this in a while. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white wine, coriander, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, bready malts; light lacto funk, white vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Moderate lactic tartness, and light-moderate coriander spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and lactic acid in the mouthfeel; some sticky spice and light salinity. Moderate increasing acidic/spicy/carbonated dryness, no pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing, 5.2%. Feels a lot less intensely sour than I recall previously. This is one of my favorite Gose for sure, still holds up to what I rated it years ago.

Today's massive beer review. This was amazing! No head retention or lacing as expected of 19%. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, lightly tart cherries, fruit skin/pits, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, coffee, almond, molasses, licorice, raisin, plum, red wine, smoke, and leather. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Mild herbal/roast bitterness, bourbon/oak spiciness, and cherry tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is amazing. Light slickness, stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and cherry acidity/tang after the finish. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic/tangy dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth, mildly increasing warmth of 19%, with minimal barrel booze lingering after the finish. Not overly sweet. They really nailed this as expected. Amazing balance of rich dessert malt complexity, vanilla, cocoa, and authentic cherry flavors; with perfect barrel integration. Not overly boozy/tannic. One of the better Bruery stouts I've had in a while. Will have to revisit the base beer soon, I have one in the cellar. 4.35

It is early Sunday morning but I am having a Pseudo Sue Pale Ale from Toppling Goliath, ABV 6.20%. It is a truly an amazing flavor, mango, grapefruit, a little lemon and very nice moderate pine flavor that lingers. Pseudo Sue is named after the famous T-Rex Sue at the Field Museum in Chicago (the world's largest T-Rex skeleton). Sue the T-Rex was in turn named after its discoverer Susan Hendrickson.

I got up to go to the bathroom early this morning, and for some reason checked my phone to make sure the rain-delayed Milwaukee Brewers game was called with them leading by 2 runs in the 8th. It wasn't, and they apparently had a complete bullpen meltdown after getting the first two batters out in the 8th, and lost. So, I just got up and had a great workout. Now I am having one of "Daddy's dinosaur waters." My 3-year-old daughter loves dinosaurs, so we are talking about Sue the dinosaur. She wants to go to Chicago to see Sue, and I think we will have to make that happen.

Outstanding gose! Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, pear, green apple, melon, red grape, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat/cracker malts; light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang/tannins, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing tart/tangy/carbonated dryness, no pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.5%. Not overly lactic or salty. They really nailed this one. Not as sour as most of their other Gose/Berliners, but similar to the recent Blueberry on acidity. Awesome balance of jammy dewberries, salt, Lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backing against acidity. Would easily get again.

This is excellent as I remember last year. Glad they went to cans(year round). Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and moderately crisp. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Some resins/rinds, increasing dryness, no hop astringency. Pretty refreshing for an IPA. Really great balanced dank/earthy/piney and citrus/tropical hop vibrancy; with a nice malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness. Feels a bit more dank and resinous than I remember in bottles, but it's fine by me. Azacca, Mosaic, Citra, Warrior, Simcoe, & Calypso hops. Will buy again for sure.

Slightly hazy light gold color with white cap and good lacing.

An aroma similar to lightly smoked herring. It's a clean scent yet discernible from the glass at arm's length.

Taste of fuller malt in a good way. Smoke is much less evident than in the scent and is well combined in the beer, which is to say it doesn't jump out and is rather restrained. Spicy hops are evident, particularly mid palate on with a modicum of oak wood smoke reappearing at the finish. Unusual, rather nice and refreshing.

This two-year old brewer calls this German IPA, which fits the style. It's one of the most exciting beers I have ever tasted out of 1500.
A: Hazy, opaque golden body that resolves into a cap and a bit of lace.
S: Orchard, fall fruits, ripening late season apples, hay, earth, fallen leaves, the sea, the fall beach.
T: On a Germanic, Munich malt backdrop rise all the flavors above via Bavarian hops... (Orchard, fall fruits, ripening late season apples, hay, earth, fallen leaves, the sea) resolving in a bitter, pungent, yeasty, cidery, drying finale.
F: Suitably bright and chalky. Clean, lean, cidery, cleansing finish. Great food beer.

I tried 8 of their beers in flights and settled on this one to take home with us. Great beer, great artisan brewer. Much to be said of a small batch, local, herbal, local ingredient, over infused craft brewer. A true confectioner, gardener and flower shop. Bravo.

Overall, this brewer packs its small batches with herbs, which are mostly native to Shelter Island, and seasonal. Fantastic tea-like brews to be found here along with good spirits, food, and craft.

Proud to be 2nd reviewer of this brew and this wonderful place.

Sometimes amping a DIPA results in a greater beer, and sometimes the flavor/ABV balance is not there. This beer amplifies all its attributes to warrant its abv. Love this brewer.
    a) If you want a whipped merengue like head over a plasma like golden body, with washes of lace - this is it.
    s) Let it warm to bring the full bouquet.
    t) Big rich fruit, big wine like, some dankness, fruit balance to bitter is elegant and again - fine wine like - likely to warm well and to age well.
    f) Big, good weight, elegant tickly, serious finish.
O: so big! need to sip.

Happy to add this Goose Parka Porter at BA. One of my favorites from Goose.
    a) Classic brown-black body with some amber at the edge, tan head that lasts and lace the snifter.
    s) Malt, hop, clean, coffee, chocolate, cocoa powder. Big enough.
    t) Follows smell, bigger and bolder as it warms, but balanced.
    f) Mellow creamy tickly. Good bitter, drying finish.
    o) Up there with Founders and best American porters.

    Stone does NE Hazed IPA.
    A) As always quality execution haze, dark amber, lace, last. On trend particulate.
    S) Falls short. Green fruit, underripe melon, malt.
    T) In contrast goes long, with all sorts of tropical fruit salad, balanced by honey malt and then the long slow glide into peppery bitter. Nicely done.
    F) Just right. Creamy, yet chalky, cliffs of dover returning home. Drying bitter cleansing finish. ABV hidden so watch out!
    O) Too much green melon and ABV for another. $12.99 Wegmens, but I’d take Arrogant over this any day.
