Finally cracked open that glorious bomber. I could tank this stuff 'til I'm welded to my chair.
Glorious, golden did float and flow!

 

2008 Alaskan Smoked Porter. Still smoky after 10 years. The standard-bearer of the style.

 

Made it to Albuquerque and La Cumbre Taproom. The Project Dank IPA is super fine and delicious. Reminds me so much of Cedar Creeks’ Dankosaurus. It’s very good.

 

Brouwerij Het Anker Gouden Carolus Tripel, 9% ABV. Pours pale golden, with lots of white foamy head that left lots of foamy lacing - almost like Orval. Nose is yeast and sweet fruit. I slurped some of the head and it was quite bitter, but the beer itself is only slightly bitter, but yeasty, and a bit fruity. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

 

Outstanding gose! Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, pear, green apple, melon, red grape, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat/cracker malts; light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang/tannins, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing tart/tangy/carbonated dryness, no pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing, 4.5%. Not overly lactic or salty. They really nailed this one. Not as sour as most of their other Gose/Berliners, but similar to the recent Blueberry on acidity. Awesome balance of jammy dewberries, salt, Lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backing against acidity. Would easily get again.


Glad Odd Sides is dating the cans now. Awesome NEIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; very creamy/bready/grainy malt and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light lingering resins/rinds. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very drinkable, not aggressive, no warmth of 7%. Definitely has Mosaic/Citra, and maybe Amarillo or El Dorado. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; great wheat/oat/malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from lingering bitter dryness. Really spot on stuff as expected.
