Brewing a German Pils this morning. Using all Huell Melon hops to change it up. Looking forward to a clear beer!

Because my wet hop IPA was a failure, need to get something hoppy in the pipeline. Decided to go the route of a NE Session... So I finished the recipe just now.

Target of 4% ABV utilizing "London Fog" yeast.

2-Row, Pilsner and White Wheat in the grist. OG of 1.047, FG expected at 1.014-1.016. Mashing at 156-158F.

Single bitter charge of warrior for 25 IBU... Then a whirlpool of Citra, Comet, Mosaic. Fermentation dry hop will be with the same hops. The final dry hop near FG will be 3oz Galaxy, 2oz Citra and 0.5oz Comet to finish it off.

Not going to spund this one as with hoppy beers, just too much of a PITA. Plus, my results have been no better, so going back to the traditional method allowing to finish to FG, cold crash it overnight and burst carb it to 2.5 vols. Will be tasty alongside my Helles, Imperial BA Grodziskie and BA Imperial Stout. My German Pils is in the pipeline for the first of those that kick as it currently is in lagering.

Tried to pick up supplies for the next few brews at MyLHBS, but they were out of just about every specialty malt I wanted. They blamed the supplier, but judging by the smaller space and how empty everything looked beyond even the HB stuff (beer to go, local sausages, etc.), either something's up or it was an extraordinary weekend for them.

Inspired by my trip to Poland earlier this summer I brewed a grodziskie on Saturday. I reached out to my favorite brewery of the trip Trzech Kumpli and the brewer was incredibly helpful and sent me a great many suggestions and an awesome article from the polish association of homebrewers. think I’ll bottle 5 gallons for Christmas gifts for the polish side of my family. Hands down the smallest beer I’ve brewed at 11 lbs in 10 gallons.

Just stopped at harbor freight and picked up a new drill for my MM3 mill as my old existing corded drill after two years gave out during my last brew day (thankfully it chugged to finish what I needed to mill). This one is 9 amp vs. existing 3 amp that died out. Let's see how this one tackles wheat...

Just about to tap a keg of (strongish) Brown Ale , hopped fairly aggressively with Cascade and Centennial, just in time for fall.

Also getting ready to brew an IPA this weekend with Wyeast 1728, some caramunich and all of the wet hops I pull off my first year plants into the whirlpool

Depends...if son's homebrew buddy wants to brew a Barleywine like he said, I will brew a session IPA and the following week we'll pitch the whole cake on it...otherwise a hefty single or double IIPA with Maris Otter (MO IPA).

Gonna start rounding my stuff up for a rebrew of my b bomb clone. Last one was phenomenal until I ruined it with oak spirals. Beware the tannins. Also looking at brewing something with my bumper crop of pumpkins this year. There is a recipe for a smoked pumpkin saison in this month's zymurgy that looked intriguing, or I may double the b bomb and do a *gasp* Halloween brown off the second runnings. Partigyle on Garth.

2-Row Pale, Crystal-120, Munich, Roast Barley, Carafa-2, and Chocolate malts goes into b bomb, figure a second running beer bumped with some DME with smoked pumpkin going in the mash and flameout with some subtle vanilla nutmeg and cinnamon going in to secondary. Rum tincture. Game on.

    Planning a split batch NEIPA:

A little Columbus and then all Galaxy in the whirlpool. Comparing maltodextrin vs lactose (really helps with body in the gluten free beers). Also comparing M36 vs S-04.

    Beer 1
    Mostly M36 & a touch of T58/WB-06.
    2.5% lactose added to fermenter.
    dry hopped with Amarillo

    Beer 2
    Mostly M36 & a touch of T58/WB-06.
    2.5% maltodextrin added to fermenter.
    dry hopped with Mosaic

Question - Should I dry hop with only Amarillo in beer 1 and only Mosaic in beer 2, or should I still throw some Galaxy into each?

I think Amarillo would be nice with the Galaxy. I am in the minority on mosaic, I do not like it in anything. Just personal preference.

Oh...I LOVE Mosaic, so there's no problem there.

I'm just wondering if it would be better to dry hop with Mosaic/Amarillo AND Galaxy, or only Mosaic/Amarillo to let it shine through. I've never used a hop for only dry hopping purposes. Not sure how much will come through in the end product.
