Good afternoon. Seems these different versions and style of Leffe are only available in Europe. The good thing is they are cheap here. The bad thing is... it’s just Leffe. It’s okay, not mind blowing.

Dear Deschutes: distro this to New York, please! This is my last one. Two months old and still sticky as hell. Great IPA.

Damn, 2 posts in a row :grimacing:
Pretty easy night last night but I’m going for the knock out punch before a nap. Almost 9% and this is a really easy drinker. Nice, danky citric quality to this one. Damn good DIPA.

Heavy overcast day yet it's still hot . . .

Clear light gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of mild grain and lime. A sweeter, almost fruit loop sort of lime that smells genuine.

Taste is a bit tart, a bit sweet, clearly lime dominant yet the lime doesn't take over except in the flavoring sense. There is a wholeness to the brew that shows it's well made and things are kept in perspective. The sweet lime balances the tartness and the tartness balances the sweet lime. Refreshing and pleasing.

    Mid texture with balancing carbonation.

I like it. For a lime theme light brew it carries itself well being balanced and well behaved. Not a general purpose food matching beer but a refreshing pool side companion.

    Good morning BA
Just worked off nights. Ready to celebrate.
    I'll take 5 days off Alex. It's a...

I recently bought what might have been the last 6 pack of NB Abbey in town. I wanted to put it up against a classic before reviewing...
Mission accomplished. They look nearly identical, but from there the taste and feel are divergent. The Prior 8 is sweeter, thicker, fruitier, and less bitter. The Abbey is darker tasting, more thin, herbal and slightly bitter. Both are good, but the Prior 8 is excellent to my taste. I wonder how the original NB recipe would have compared? It's been too many years for me to try to remember.

I need to get a nap before grown up duties tonight. Cheers all!

Good morning, BAs! This morning I am drinking Foreign Objects’ latest ipa, called Future Sight. I really dig that FO has carved out its own substyle in the NE IPA arena. Their beers look and smell the part, but they tend to dial up the bitterness to surprising levels. This is one of the more bitter beers I’ve had this year. A palate wrecker indeed.

Look what I found. La Chouffe Blonde in a can (!).

Taste is somewhat fresher compared to the usual bottled version. But that could be just my imagination. There is no date of bottling / canning on it, only best before date.

The only thing we need now is a lager La Chouffe glass

    Cheers!

I had this one as nightcap last night courtesy of @LloydDobler my phone died before I could submit to the NBS thread. Just glad to give credit for a tasty treat.

Pours a thick black with minimal tan head.
Smells of dark roast coffee, chocolate, and barrel.
Taste follows with chocolate and coffee, good barrel presence. Very well balanced.
Full bodied, this one has some legs. Smooth and hides the high ABV quite well.
Overall an excellent BA RIS! I had never heard of these guys but this was one hell of a beer!

I’m pretty sure I saw it in can here too lately but didn’t purchase it. It’s still my Belgian Strong pale ale of choice - ahead of Duvel.

Btw I should come up with a beer instead of just commenting...

Keeping with the theme of light fruity beers started earlier . . .

Golden color with a hint of reddish cast and white cap.

Distinct strawberry aroma resting on a mild malt base.

The primary flavor is clean, bright strawberry in the lighter form of fruit rather than commercial flavoring or at least that's how it comes across. Malt is present as a base and the underlying brew is slightly sweet as is the regular Canebrake of which this is a flavored variant.

    Medium texture with light carbonation.

A pleasant, clean, light brew with slightly more than average flavoring. As a fruit brew it works rather well but I see it more as a refreshant than food companion.

I was about to ask if you've had seen it. I do like the can, but I'm not sure about difference in taste yet. Both are very wonderful anyway.

Next time I’ll buy it and see if there is a difference...

So I am having Affligem Blonde - which has been my beer of choice here lately.
