Having lunch in a French restaurant with a French lager - Meteor Blonde:

Clear amber gold color with white cap and excellent lacing.

Aroma of toasty malt and spicy slightly herbal hops.

Taste is grain forward with more roast presence than I caught in the scent. A mild caramely sweetness appears mid palate and hops are waving their hands for attention by the finish. Aftertaste is a good blend of all those flavors.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Very acceptable version of an Amber Lager.

 

Absolutely freaking delicious. If I rated beers this would be all 5s. Had to tie up some loose ends at work so I’m probably a one-and-done for now.

 

I am having a Supah Sik Spells Imperial IPA from Mikkeller, not Denmark but San Diego, ABV 8.00%, IBU 75. The flavor is mild and sweet honey and caramel, significant tropical fruit mango, apricot, grapefruit and pine resin at the end. It is well balanced, juicy and very drinkable but a tad on the watery side. Overall pretty good but not the best DIPA.

North Coast distribution is spotty around here so when some shows up I grab it . . .




Clear light gold color with white cap and lacing.

Clean, bright aroma of floral hops and ripe yellow fruit.

Taste at first is fruity malty with hops sitting atop like icing. Belgian yeast comes across as spicy with a touch of banana but nothing heavy handed. The flavors are almost light yet come across with depth. There is a layered complexity here that rises the whole a good deal higher than standard. Strong yet satisfying.

Medium texture with more than enough carbonation yet not so much that a vigorous pour won't smooth out.

I'm tempted to call this a little brother of Pranqster but at 7.9 ABV it's a big boy on it's own. Good example of a Belgian that hits all the notes on pitch without any wandering surprises.

Drinking this Indiana Oktoberfest right now...

Reviews are oddly mixed on this one. 3F tried, and succeeded IMO, with making a traditional Märzen. It is not a $9/bomber beer however. Cheers all & enjoy what's in your mug today!

Flow Switch NEDIPA, at Kettlehead. Really loaded with guava, pine resin, and some white grapefruit.

 

Pre dinner beer - “Watermelon Wheat” by Crate Brewery, London, UK:



Tart fruit nose. Lite sour lemon, and watermelon. Weak and thin, but it does taste like watermelon. Would be very nice on a hot sunny day (its cool and rainy here)...
