Wow i saw it twice today for $17.99. I read your post and F44 post. I thought it was so overpriced?

I'm sure because of the hype and the style some stores will try to get away with a larger mark-up than usual. Unfortunate, but a lot of people won't blink at paying that price as it's becoming pretty standard.

I just called i few places that tweeted about BAM ,and they stated also $11.99. Thats the correct price , I stopped at 2 places on my way home from work and they were both $17.99.

I bought the Double DMT thinking it was the DDH. As I was drinking the first can, my dumbass realized it was not the DDH version.

Regardless, it's very good. And doesn't drink like a 9.1% beer at all IMO.

It’s ridiculous. I’m at the point where I’ll buy a single can of something here and there rather than an entire 4-pack. I don’t remember which it was, I think Irregardless, but I looked down at a 7.49 tag for a single, laughed and put it back.

Back when I worked in New England, breweries like Tree House, Trillium, Alchemist, Bissell, etc, never charged over $6 per can.

Granted you’ve got distribution costs built in here, but these brews don’t come close to matching what they put out.

Let's not get carried away here. Many of these beers are on point with the NE breweries. Do a blind taste test with some of them and I'd bet you can't tell the difference between most.

I would have called bs on this about a year ago, but after doing a couple large trades for some true NEIPA from the big hitters out east a while back, I don't feel the need to ever do that again with what is available around here.

agreed. it is so nice having incredibly local hops that we don't have to pay shipping to get. sure, they are around $16/4pk, but that alone used to be what a box cost just for the shipping fee. BT, blackstack, and modist are all killing it with others starting to dial things in.

SOSUS and singles of King Sue at the MGM at Hopkins Crossroad and Highway 7.

I never stop in there, but had time to kill in the area

    And BAM for $11.99

Do a blind taste test with any of the "NE style" IPAs from anywhere and you won't tell the difference. They're all the same and take no talent or technique to produce.

If any of this were true, there wouldn’t be so many shitty ones.

I've had it and I'll say this: It's a good, crushable, tropical-ish (no adjuncts) tasting IPA with mild bitterness and almost no residual aftertaste. At $10.99/6-pack, it's a nice change of pace if you're getting haze fatigue and need a reset. And it's only 6%, so it made a great golf beer.

Completely agree with this assessment. Have bought it twice now and have no plans on stopping

I live across the street from this place, and feel obligated to point out that those Sosus bottles are over 6 months old.

I did grab a can of King Sue from there this weekend though and it was tasting pretty good. I think those were from a July canning.

This seems like the perfect forum for me!
I am coming up from Chicagoland Friday (9/21) and am looking for any releases Friday or Saturday that I should hit.
    Cheers!

It's a pretty light week for releases and drops from most of the big hitter's with GABF this week and guest tappings at Darkness Day next weekend. Here's a calendar with a few small releases and other events you could check out. https://minnesotabreweries.com/

Blackstack has quite a few recent releases still on tap and Barrel Theory still has What The Fluff on as of this afternoon. Not sure if it will make the weekend though. Cheers!

This is good analysis. I was passively wondering why ABR was so early this year and now I believe I have my answer.

The Brewing Projekt/Weldworks collab "Movin 2 da Country" is at SLL. $18.99 a 4 pack. Probably the first time I really said to myself "wow craft beer is getting expensive". But I proceeded to buy it anyways. As for the beer itself, it's super unique. It's a sour milkshake IPA. Very peachy. I really enjoy it, it's very different. I'd recommend it if you can get past the price factor.

At the risk of being perceived as dickish (what else is new?), I'll ask, isn't almost every beer that's available functionally a "release" when you're visiting for a weekend?
