Is the six-pack headed the way of the VHS cassette ?

Are 4-packs just a conniving way to get us to buy 8 cans or bottles, if if we want the six that we're used to getting when we buy beer ?

I don't know. I had bought a crowler of a pils and a crowler of a NEIPA from the brewery. I drank the pils first because I wanted to taste it and I was worried about the IPA killing my palate for the pils.

When I got to the IPA I realized that the pils had so much flavor from the malt and spicy hops that I couldn't really taste the IPA. Before this I really didn't think the pils was all that big. It tasted like a good pilsners. Clean and crisp with strong spicy hops and bready malt.

I find with good pilsners (and other lagers) they really don't have any less flavor than other styles people obsess over. It may be harder flavors to define but not significantly less.

There ARE many breweries that feel that Pilsner is synonymous with lacking flavor and make theirs to be that way. But I like the ones following in the steps of the good German or Czech ones.

But this is also from my vantage point where I drink lagers and other balanced beers the vast majority of the time. But I do try whatever IPA is around and big every so often or whatever other big beer occasionally but I never see them being significantly more flavorful... More muddied flavors yes that fight amongst each other to the point where they step on each other's toes, but not really stronger flavors.

Sure. But, that is kind of like saying horse shit smells worse than dog shit. You wouldn’t be wrong, but that doesn’t change the fact you are comparing shit with shit.

My idea of a perfect Saturday afternoon is playing 4 or 5 games of sand volleyball and chugging ice cold barley wines

I personally really dislike cask beers about 90% of the time.

I don't dig the warmth of them or the lower carbonation. I have had a few bangers on cask like certain brown ales or stouts but for some reason places in northern cali have started doing piney, bitter ass west coast ipas on cask and it's disgusting.

I first experienced cask ales as a 19 year old. I really didn't figure it out until years later. I had always wondered why the beers were so smooth, drinkable, and easy on you after more than a few. Bringing these kegs to America was a huge challenge. I always just knew this drinking experience was specific to locale, which makes me love it even more!

STOP MAKING TALL BOY 4 PACKS AND CHARGING 6 PACK PRICES!!!!!!
But for real, just once I want to find a NEIPA or "Hazy Pale Ale" in a fucking six pack. Is that too much to ask?

I hear you ! Granted, not every beer lover is a mathematician (I happen to be), but I hope most realize that 4 x 16 oz. < 6 x 12 oz.
