What beer are you drinking now? #2155

At the Wicked Weed Funkatorium in Asheville, Bombadile, a 4.2% sour ale with strawberries, was my favorite beer of the many I drank.

I just so happens I have that option today, along with a mixed green salad with grilled salmon and strawberries. A perfect complement.

The aroma is powdery, sweet strawberry, sweet rose watery funkyness, damp mustiness, with just a hint of summer farmyard. It’s a light and crisp beer with green strawberry tartness, moderate acidity and some earthy funkyness. A very approachable Brett beer I’d say.

 

Drinking a new Czech lager from the monopoly. It's 4.6% abv and I guess with the 11 on the can one can expect that the OG is at least 11%? It's golden verging on amber colored similar to alot of Czech lager beers. There's some diacetyl, malt (some mild roastiness) and hops in the aroma. In the flavor there's predominantly maltiness (tastes like there's caramel malt in there), a light sweetness, a refreshing bitterness and some mild but pleasant hop flavor. All in all a tasty Czech lager beer which seems like a good compromise between flavor and abv.

Pale Fire Major Tom Galaxy IPA

 

In between trips to school for the kids' walkathon. Making lunch, drinking another big can of IPA. The glass really does affect this beer – the last can I have from this batch is not as malty as the other three, which were all drank in different style glasses. I really enjoyed this the first two times I bought it, this batch was not as good, but I will gladly buy it when it comes around again.

I thought I recognized the brewery name. In Williamsburg, VA. I remember going there years ago when they were basically a mom and pop shop. Brewed just three beers. Not so today.
