4.5 year revisit. This was my 2200th at the time. This was fantastic. Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, smoke, and charcoal; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, and herbal/peppery/piney hops. Light-moderate pine/herbal/grassy hop, roast/charred bitterness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body. Very creamy, silky, slick; and lightly sticky, chalky, tannic mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering hop/char bitter and bourbon/oak tannin dryness; mild lingering acrid/astringency. Smooth sipping, mildly increasing warmth of 10.5%, minimal barrel booze. Very rich black/roasted malt complexity, balanced earthy hops; and great barrel integration. Old rating is still accurate. I think regular BORIS, BA, and Royale are more amazing. This is still impressive, just a bit too aggressively bitter, charred, and drying. Will have to revisit the base beer eventually(2012), but that rating is showing similar stance vs BORIS.

2015 is still tasting amazing! Last bottle. Flavors of big tart/juicy raspberries, raisin, red grape, plum, pear, apple, pepper, candi sugar, and toasted bread; with some herbal hops and yeast earthiness. Balanced fruit tartness and peppery yeast spice on the finish against malt sweetness. Medium-full bodied; very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly slick/syrupy mouthfeel. Some grainy/bready creaminess and fruit tannins. Good dryness from fruit acidity and yeast spice; never too sweet. Very drinkable. These popped up again earlier last year, so I grabbed a few. Should have gotten more, but I have a lot of Koz left anyways. This shows great balance of Belgian style character, without just being a straight over the top fruit beer. Love Rubaeus too, this is basically just the imperial Belgian version. One of my favorite fruit beers of all time. I wouldn’t mind Cerise coming back either. Super jammy.

Warsteiner - the German Pilsner. Usually not a fan of the style but it’s a sunny day.

Insane NEDIPA. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/zest, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready wheat mouthfeel; light sticky sticky hops, slight resins. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Minimal warming 9.1%. Insanely drinkable, perfectly soft feel, never aggressive. Loved the hop bill. The Columbus, Centennial, Loral, Simcoe hops provide more dank/earthy complexity, and a touch more resin drying than Boss Tweed. Not better than Boss, but really close. Insanely juicy and fairly dank hop complexity; with perfect wheat/oat malt balance. Never overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. Was my last can for the year. Already got more Boss this week.

Amazing milkshake DIPA! Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal. grassy, spicy bitterness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready malt/lactose, light sticky hops, and slight lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Great soft feel, not aggressive. Dangerously smooth, minimal warming 8.6%. Awesomely juicy/light dank Mosaic hops with nice Blackberry presence; great wheat/oat/malt and vanilla/lactose balance, no overly sweet/heavy from lingering bitter dryness. Might be getting a 2nd pack at this point.

We visited the West Gate/Museum having free admission and re-enactors today. The gate, like the Great Hall, is the last remaining structure from the beef up of fortifications and buildout in the twelve hundreds...

The wife went shopping; I tarried about an hour in the Museum and read up on the history. Now, hitting up the nearby beer bar with a “Collision South Coast IPA” on tap from Unity Brewing, Southampton, UK:

Best IPA in 5 weeks. Slightly dank grapefruit nose and taste. Lite bitterness and almost juicy. Opaque amber/deep amber (12-) with moderately heavy lacing. Medium lite body with a bit of resin stickiness. Lite bitter linger. I like - Cheers from Winchester, UK!

Clear lighter shade of gold color with very good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of clean, piney hops with a decidedly citrus bent of ripe fruits. I get grapefruit and pineapple.

Taste is hop forward with a solid malt base. I don't taste the malt so much as feel it supporting the hops, plenty of it in there though. Hops are the headliner here with enough to cover the spectrum of resin bitterness to citrus fullness all well mixed together. We expect this level of hopping in an IPA but not everyone pulls it off with such finesse.

    Full texture with balancing carbonation.

Well crafted with the hop adventurer in mind.

Came home after hitting another pub and the grocery store...now for a late lunch and a beer or two this almost sunny afternoon (65 degrees!). Out on the back patio with “London Pale Ale” by Meantime Brewing Company, London UK:

Best by May 9, 2019 so assuming 4 months old. Pretty looking beer. Very lite lemon nose with a whiff of skunk. Very little hop bite with a suggestion of citrus hops. Overall, the citrus hops (Cascade and Centennial) have apparently faded, and the more earthy Kentish Golding hop prevails. Ok.
