If you are referring to Hung Drawn N Quartered then I would crack it soon. It was awesome fresh. I liked it as much as Handjee.

IMO the Rye works very well with the base beer.

As ridiculous as it sounds, straight up BADL is one of the most underrated barrel aged beers out there. '16.... absolutely phenomenal and top tier barrel aged stout. '17 was a bit sweeter but still really good. '18 (even though I had only a few sips at DLD '18 and I love rye barrels) was also up there.

I'd love to see 3000+ bottles of just straight up BADL every year at DLD. Forget most of the other nonsense.

    I concur

Had the pleasure of sharing a 17 BADL and it blew me away

Floyd's gonna Floyd, I guess. Given their reputation, this doesn't surprise me in the least bit.

Kinda bullshit that Nick said he'd get it handled and then back out like that though.

Lol. Dude should have checked before naming his brewery.

Really? Who is going to confuse Abnormal in CA and Three Floyds in the midwest?

It's not about confusion, it's about co-opting or associating intellectual property someone else owns and has heavily invested in. It's only a matter of time before FFF is in California. It's better for Abnormal to change their name now than years down the road when it's going to be way more expensive for them to do so.

Agreed. A bit silly to name their brewery It's Not Normal Brewing.

It seems like a leap to say that Abnormal "co-opted" FFF's intellectual property. Their tagline of "It's not normal" seems pretty distinct to me from naming a brewery Abnormal. If the change has to happen, it should happen sooner. It seems to me, and apparently Nick Floyd at some point, it shouldn't have to happen.

    "We're Abnormal."

    "It's not normal."

Store clerk: "I'm sorry, are you looking for the abnormal beer or the one that's not normal?"
    Consumer: "What's the difference?"

Does it suck because there is differentiation to the beer advocate? Yes. Is it different enough that they can keep it? No. I can see the difference, but given all the beer lawsuits protecting property I can't see Abnormal having a legal shot at this. There have been far too many cases that are even less confusing that have succeeded in forcing brewers to change beer names/brewery names/slogans.

I don't know anybody that identifies FFF beers as "It's Not Normal" beers.

As stated previously this lawsuit sucks but if FFF doesn't protect their trademarks they could lose future cases. If they don't shut down Abnormal Brewing and someone opens It's Not Normal Artisan Ales they could say "well how come you didn't sue Abnormal?". Its just business baby.

Doesn't that instagram post make it sound like 3 Floyd's is going to drop it? Am I misreading that - because the comments here sound like Abnormal is still getting sued...

It seems like Nick Floyd told them that at some fest they were at together, didn't realize the lawyers were pursuing it. But, time passed and the action proceeded.

Confirmed, BA Darkness is the same year vintage as the regular stuff. That's why typically it's released on store shelves at a later date and it has the same label art just in a different color. Surly has gone so far as having to explain what year the BA version is if it's released after December 31st.

Example: 2017 BA Darkness was released in January of this year but is still known as 2017 BA Darkness.
