I'm cool with brew year on the label.

Was the 2015 not aged a full year then? Instagram says it was released in December 2015, with 2015 on the label.

Never saw the parking situation like that before. I arrived around 3, entire side street was packed. I had to do a lap before I was able to take a spot that someone just left. Line was short, but took forever. Mostly had 1 person doing the check out. Went quicker once a second person came.

No it was. Labeling for brew year instead of release year only became an issue more recently. Growth, being busy, concerns over limited space etc started to push releases to a point where we had to make a decision whether to put brew year and have people question why it said 17 on label even though it was released in 18, or put 18 on label and have people wonder why we skipped 17...

Life was so much easier in '15:slight_smile:

the other building is behind the taproom. its one of the doors in that courtyard if youve ever had to line up in the back.

I tried to edit the above to make it clearer but waited too long and couldn't edit.

    A couple clarifications:

Its confusing i know. '15 was almost certainly brewed in '14, but back then in simpler times we brewed the beer early enough for it to be ready in the target release year and were able to get it out on time, as soon as it tasted ready.

Where I called it "brew year" i shouldn't have, that just adds to the confusion, as 2017 was almost certainly *brewed* in '16 because of the extended aging process... we currently look at the year on the bottle and loosely think of it as its vintage, though its probably better to think of it as the year we figured we'd be releasing it when we brewed it.

Clear as mud? Oh and i stand by my statement that life was so much easier in '15:slight_smile:

Well, 2016 was the year there wasn't actually an ANTEAD release, right? Breweries skip years sometimes, it's only natural with big beers like this, especially in the early stages. It wouldn't have been too concerning to not have a 2016 bottle. "We didn't release one that year" is as cut and dried as it gets...and it makes the 2015 that much more cool. Instead you've gotta explain this labeling logic every year because you just know listing the previous year's date will confuse all the non-geeks that don't read this thread :stuck_out_tongue:

All right I'll see my dorky ass out now.

It's a fair point, but to us we didn't necessarily skip a year. There's a batch to correspond with each year, we just didn't necessarily get around to releasing it in that calendar year... luckily you geeks are (for the most part) the only ones asking! Cheers :beers:

Considering everything prepaid and all, this line is torturously slow.

And based on the number of pages in the book, they sold a TON of regular sets

Yeah pretty much the least efficient line I have ever seen. Would help to have a sign larger than a piece of paper telling people to get their ID and ticket out because the amount that didn't do that until they got to the front was astounding

Hope everyone checked their bags before they left. I just arrived home to find a completely unlabeled bourbon ANTEAD in my bag. Very un-Kane like.

Can't fault Kane for people not being intelligent. I bought a set and was instructed three times (on Eventbrite and email) prior to pickup to have my ticket and ID ready to present so I can receive my bottles. If you didn't have your shit ready whilst waiting on the queue, you're an asshole.

I arrived at 14.22 and with one person fulfilling orders, I waited eight minutes. Considering it's a three step verification process I wouldn't describe that as inefficient. For those who think it was slow your ire should mostly be directed at your unprepared beer drinking brethren.

I should note, as a follow-up, that I contacted Kane and they are doing the right thing.

Except for people who ran bots with proxy pickups and were able to get multiple allotments - very few people are cracking these anytime soon, I'd assume .

I’m opening mine the first chance I get when I can share it with a few people. I can’t solodome an antead, I definitely would if I could. If I tried it would not be a pretty ending I’d be seeing doubles.

Got a growler of Blue Hotel on Saturday. Legit the best IPA I’ve had from any brewery in NJ, and I’ve had quite my share of a Troon stuff. It was phenomenal.

The issue was not the customers. The issue was having one person do all the checkouts, with one hard copy binder. For a portion of the time I was waiting they had a guy with the "rye" binder, but no clear direction that people should form to lines. For an operation of Kane's size, it was primitive and inefficient. First, split the alphabet. Second, the tickets are bar-coded, and it is 2018. Why are we using highlighters and pens. Third, get more staff. I'm a huge Kane fanboy but the deficiencies were glaring. I understand a place like Troon where the guy is just getting started and has a small operation, but even there they have two registers and three people, so it moves pretty quick.

The tasting room was understaffed Sunday as well.
