What beer are you drinking now? #2159

I actually had this last night.



This was delicious.
Worth the price and 45 minute drive to purchase.

Also, this was on the front page of the Seattle Times this past Sunday.

 

Cheers after a looong day in Chartres , 50 miles west of Paris. Tired and thirsty and you know, this beer aint too bad.

Ticking Sweden tonight - “Pistonhead Kustom Lager” from Brutal Brewing:



A bit watery. Cracker crisp malt. Lite floral hop (Perle and Magnum). Ok.

So hot out today even the turtles are seeking shade. I keep thinking about how close we are to October . . .







Dark golden brown color with tan cap and lacing.

Deep aroma of toasted malt with overtones of toffee and dark fruit spiced with clove.

Taste is driven by the toasted grain which lends an almost smoky element followed by the toffeeish dark fruit. Don't really notice hops and think the prickle I'm getting in the drink comes from carbonation. Fruit elements are in the background, perhaps some ripe banana now that you mention it, all combined reasonably well.

Full texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it lacks the complexity of the Europeans but is nonetheless well crafted and full of flavor.

A spicy IPA from NOLA Brewing, Hopitoulas which is 6 % ABV.

 

Much needed afternoon beer after working outside in the heat for 6 hours.
