Got a growler last night and loved it. Amazing nose and great hop flavor as well. It was a bit thin for a DIPA but it was sooo drinkable.

I had the normal Jade on tap a few weeks ago. As far as feedback, I would have liked more hope flavor and aroma. to match the bitterness.

Agreed. Except for the thin part. I just thought it was very easy to drink.

Did you have cheese with it?

No cheese. Maybe thin was the wrong word. Just thought it was very light bodied for a DIPA and there wasn'nt much of a malt backbone to speak of. Still thought it was great. Probably the best hoppy beer to come out of NC.

For those that liked it, better go stock up now. Not much left and after it is gone they will put Frostbite on.

I got a friend who will be in the area Wednesday and was wondering if they were doing growler fills for this beer. If so, will they fill another brewery's growler or just their own?

They do growler fills of papa jade, and they will fill growlers that are not theirs.

Had some the other night, this one needs a bigger malt back bone. Could be great, but it's not.

I picked a growler last week...so be forwarned!!! Check your cap on the growlers. The growlers are $17 and the beer is IMO the best IPA/DIPA in the state. But it really sucks to get home and you only have 1/2 a growler left, with the rest in your seat and sitting in the ice of the cooler. Let me explain: I bought the growler and took it to my car, sat it in the seat until I could get some ice to add to my cooler, seeing as how I live 2 hours from the brewery. When I go to put the growler in the cooler, I notice my canvas bag is wet and so is my seat. It smells delicious!!! So I check the cap, thinking maybe the 'tender didn't tighten it up fully. It wasn't loose by any means but I could hear the carbonation escaping. So I tighten the hell out of the cap and lay it in my cooler. When I finally do get home, the growler is only half full, and my ice has a nice orangish tint and smells pretty good. So I call up Foothills and ask to speak to a manager. Long story short, the manager would not speak to me, instead he got the hostess to call me and let me know that if I drive back to the brewery they will replace it. I explain I am two hours away, and she pretty much says oh well, that's all we can do. I just thought it was a pretty shitty experience. So I drank my half empty growler of flat Papa Jade and swore to never buy another growler from them.

Have to say the Foothills people are really great, not sure what they could have done other than offer to replace it. I've bought numerous growlers and had a regular Jade for Sunday, never a problem. Hold onto the jug refills are 10-11 bucks, try the Seeing Double BA version, the barrel on tap is tremendous..

This particular barrel is really good stuff, I've had it before and thought it too boozy, and just so so. This one is worthy of taking a growler fill home.

It wasn't really that I wanted anything, I just wanted to be heard. I wanted to talk to a manager, sure it would've been nice to been comped a pint on my next visit, but whatever. I mentioned this to someone else I know, and he basically experienced the same thing. Where as I had a faulty cap, the 7 or 8 growlers he bought, 3 or 4 of them had loose caps. Luckily he didn't lose any of his, they were all upright. So its not like it was a one time thing. And I agree, I have always had good experiences at Foothills, but the one time I do have a problem, the manager wouldn't give me the time of day...that's my only gripe.

Call and ask for Whitney, she's great and she went above and beyond for me a few months ago, and she didn't even know who I was, just a stranger looking for bottle of BAPP. She left the bar went home and scrounged thru her boyfriends stash trying to find me a bottle, she called the brewer too. She didn't have to do a thing, you just hit the wrong person.
