So safe to say Chicago is now officially the Haze Craze capital of the US? 550 beers submitted to the juicy/hazy IPA/DIPA categories and 3 out of 6 metals go to Chicago? Pretty amazing. Big bump for Alarmist and Eris. I found both of those beers to be solid, but figured them as more of a mild attempt for a wider audience. Not sure they are complex enough for the wider beer advocate groups... Look forward to trying the Corridor DIPA as their stuff is always on point.

Funny that two of the winners are from breweries that are never discussed here.

Having Le Jus at Beermiscuous right now, it's pretty good for a sub 6 (5.8) abv, although That's not my target (I prefer 7 or 8).

I wonder if this will do anything to Chicago trade values? :stuck_out_tongue:

I need about 2 cases worth of a single hazy beer for an event on 10/6. Not concerned with price just looking for the best possible hazy beer that is available in the city at that time. Do I just go to the Dojo and get two cases of VoL knowing that it will be a month old at that point or do I hold out for something else that I can get in that kinda quantity?

I’d contact @KrajDoesBeer once he is back from GABF to see if he knows when the next forbidden root cans are coming out, and if he can hook you up with a couple cases....

Hubbard’s Cave will certainly have good, fresh stuff in quantity as an option.

I heard Alarmist makes the best hazy beer, check out getting a couple cases from them.

Go to Corridor on Friday with 11 mules for the Squeezit release.

I think the VoL idea is pretty solid.

Sitting in the awards ceremony and they announced Eris winning the Bronze was cool but then when they said Alarmist took Gold it sucked the air out of us. What a great day for Chicago beer.

I don't even give a fuck about these types of awards, but it was pretty awesome, especially coming out of left like that.

I need to try it again. Had it on tap at Melnicks a while back and didn’t think much of it compared to the elites of Chicago. Congrats to them for the medal.

I typically feel the same when the FoBAB winners are released; my guess is that sometimes a more balanced, less in-your-face beer will appeal to a wider range of judges.

Cracked a BuckleDown Release the Haze, which is a collaboration with DryHop.

Not bad...it's fairly simply (basically just orange citrus notes) and kinda dry...it's worth a try, but I'd advise a single over a six pack. YMMV.
