Pumpkin is ok, but whatever get's chosen is fine with me.

    Cheers!

    Some suggestions:

    Altbier
    Schwarzbier
    Scottish Ale (not Wee Heavy)
    Brown Ale (American or English)
    Dubbel

Probably shouldn't have brought up Altbier though. At best there is maybe one example I could find in my area.

The 1st one was for Chimay Blue. Orval was also tasted once.

We've done single beers before- in particular I remember Delerium Noel a year or two ago .

If we're going with a single beer, it needs to be widely distributed (including fly-over territory).

Something that might go well with Thanksgiving?

    Traditional English-style porter
    Belgian quad
    Amber or Brown ale
    German Doppelbock
    Belgian wit

If it fits my schedule I'm interested. It is pumpkin season but cooler weather makes me crave porters

I actually love the idea of doing pumpkin beers. While they're a bit of a punching bag obviously, my sense from the boards is that quite a few people actually do like *some* of them, and it could be fun to really dig in to the characteristics of the various offerings.

Short of that it'd be cool to kind of stick with a fall theme broadly speaking.

ETA: following on FBarber's post it would be fun to focus on only pumpkin porters/stouts, though I don't know if there are enough of those around to qualify.

Never had it, but it came highly recommended by the beer lady at the store I go to. Im pretty excited to try it.
I know of 4 off the top of my head and doubt any of them have wide distribution.
    1) Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Stout (I love this beer but haven't seen it out here in IL for a couple years)
    2) Alaska Imperial Pumpkin Porter (haven't had it yet, not sure on distro)
    3) Warlock - Southern Tier (I'd imagine this has the widest distribution - don't like it personally though.)
    4) Crypt Keeper pumpkin porter (local one, havent tried it yet.

I think Pumpkin beers in general could be fun - definitely follows the spirit of the AAL tasting  And if people can get a pumpkin porter/stout then go for it!

In honor of @woodychandler how about bigazz cans, to include 16oz, stovepipe, kegcan, or crowler? The bigger the better! Any style. CAN you dig it? I've got my sights on BA Fidy, though I'd really like to get my hands around a Rum BA Fidy.

When it comes to these threads:
When it's a single beer, I have a soft spot for the classics... and when it's a category of beers, I have a soft spot for maligned styles.

Having said that, I like the idea of Aventinus or pumpkin beers.

With all the hate for pumpkin beers, I think we should focus a tasting on the style.

    Pumpkin beer has my vote.
