There was a huge discussion last year about the +1. Someone asked goose, and they indicated that the guest could still go.

Did this work? I seem to recall testimonials that last year they "never checked" for who was the main entrant and who was the guest. Or something to that effect. So, no, the guest did not have to enter at the same time.

This is just what I recall. Wouldn't swear by it. I'm entering my wife and I only, and putting me down as her guest and vice versa. So, I'm not trying to use this information to my benefit, just sharing what I recall.

Last year I don't recall having to enter your guest name to enter the contest.

Ditto. I told several people (at that time, since my wife would not be able to go) that if I won, but I could not attend, I'd enter one of them depending on which ones of them won. Turns out, none of the 6 of us won, so....

Interesting they are doing Vanilla as the extra instead of Reserve. Wonder if it'll be in a box and then drive up trade value similar to how Reserve is trading wayyyyy higher than it should.

I assumed they did this because (1) Vanilla is the second most-limited and/or expected to be the most sought-after.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't the first, but since Prop is Chicago only, there's obviously a difference there between availability and desirability. Not that Prop isn't always desired, I'm just saying I think people presently are probably more excited about Vanilla than triple chocolate.

Maybe the true Prop requires mixing Vanilla and Prop together? *takes off tin hat*

Yeah pretty sure your guests could just enter by themselves. They just ask for your ID at the gate, and then they hand you an envelop with your name on it. My fiancé and I got separate envelops even though she was my guest

Vanilla is good, Reserve is crap. If someone wants to set up a large blind taste test, I'm guessing half the people aren't going to be able to correctly identify reserve from regular...

I thought it was hotter, more like a shot of whiskey, than regular, and the way I'd be able to tell side by side is simply because I liked regular better.

Reserve has a rounder more bourbon forward flavor to me. I think it's better than Reg for sure.

Personally, I'd love to see Reserve be a staple every year. I'd love to see the difference between a Weller 12 BCBS vs. an ECBP BCBS vs. ____ BCBS vs. BCBS.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. It's rare enough that getting 1 (or if lucky) 2 bottles a year doesn't make me upset for paying the additional $10/bottle retail (assuming I can get it retail). If at any point I decide it's not worth it, it's easier to throw by the wayside than other variants, since all Reserve will be "very similar". If they aren't very similar, then I'm guessing I won't want to discard the idea of chasing them.

That'd be cool, although I'd rather they do a draft flight or something similar if they're trying to show off different barrels.

I liked Reserve a lot from the bottles I’ve had. From tap, I didn’t notice much of a difference from Regular, though.

I've only had draft so maybe the pasteurizing helped it along...?

That'd be cool, but I was really referring to 1 each year. So, a flight would be difficult except at special events.

No I know, I would just prefer they be fresh for comparison purposes (so all from the same year). But rotating barrels under the Reserve name would be cool, too.

I think that's the intention, since last year we had 1, then this year we have ECBP. In the past they obviously did templteton rye, Weller. So, I'm curious to see what's in store down the road.

Honestly I thought Reserve tasted like polyurethane and I was glad I got to try it at a share versus chasing or trading for a bottle then being disappointed when I opened it. Guess I'm just not that much of a bourbon guy. x_x
