I was given this excellent Columbus, Ohio, IIPA by the ridiculously generous @Danmullens1! I believe that he learned of this brewery from @WesMantooth.

 

I don't really like their IPA, and Two Claw is good if it's super fresh, but it leans to malty pretty quickly. You could do a lot worse than a case of One Claw for a week at the beach. I like rye whiskey too, the bit of the sharpness from the rye is nice if it's done right.

 

It aas!! I should have gotten the bowl though lol

Union Craft Brewing’s Change Order IPA.

This is the Baltimore version of Deschutes’ Fresh Squeezed IPA (Citra/Mosaic). I found the use of Pilsner Malt adds a nice backbone for the Hop Oils to shine. It’s fruity with one of the dirtiest Resinous Hop finishes I have had in a long time #NoHazeCrazeHere

I need a thistle glass in my cabinet, I have a BA Outta Kilter that's been mellowing for years.

 

I like their IPA, but I agree One Claw is their best beer. I was really let down by Two Claw. I don't really like a lot of their hazy hoppy beers though. Have you ever had the good fortune to try Bissell Brothers Lux from Maine?

Double barrel Dark Apparition. This was amazing as expected. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, port, toasted oak, nuts, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, prune, fig, cherry, and date; with light notes of smoke, char, sherry, leather, and tobacco. Light roast/char bitterness, and bourbon/wine/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light carbonation and full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich mouthfeel. Slight slickness, stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. No cloying/acrid flavors. Minimal warming 13%, zero barrel booze. Dangerously smooth. Amazingly rich malt complexity, with perfect bourbon/port barrel integration. Not quite as amazing as regular BBA version, but very close.

No I haven't, the only ME beers I've had are from MBC, we get them here but they're shelf turds, old ones at that.

 

Another IPA . . .



Lighter shade of clear gold color with white cap and lacing.

Clean, fresh scent of brightly floral hops with a definite spice hit.

Taste is hop forward followed by more malt than I noticed in the scent. Very likable combination of floral, citrusy hops that are not too sharp and not too bitter. A Goldilocks brew. Malt remains low key but present to the finish. More hop spice than bitter in the aftertaste.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Not a de minimis version of an IPA, rather it stands up well as a member of the marque. An IPA certainly, with a sufficient malt component. Perhaps a bit lesser statue than it's siblings but balanced enough to match foods that stand up to a bit more than average hoppiness.

 

Next time I'm in Maine if they have it I'll grab you a four pack.
