Rookie BIF Round 2 Hints and Hauls Thread

It's probably similar with Imgur; the trick is once your picture is uploaded to a hosting site, you have to paste in the "direct link" after clicking on the little mountain icon on BA.

 

The BA anny date threw me off big time. I was confident you were my sender up to that point but when you changed it thought it was going to @beertunes. By that point we were 500 + posts into the thread and I assumed I incorrectly eliminated someone and didn’t want to reread everything. Nice job with the mind fuckery - I really enjoyed it.

 

I saw your Untappd you hit some great beers!! I think The Answer is probably my favorite if you are a dessert stout person they are amazing!! There was one last time was there that tasted like a BA Snickers bar.

I basically just went for something that I had and liked (which is most, but not all, of their stuff). And then got the freshest can available.

 

Well...gonna steal the convo here for a hot second...anyone here ever have any of those boxed beers? like beers literally in plastic bags in boxes? usually the still lambic types. I only know one brewery in the states doing it (Primitive Beer in Colorado), and a bunch of folks out in belgium are as well. I'm DYING to try primitive, and am wondering if anyone here has had there stuff??

You can only get their stouts at the brewery right? I've had some of their IPAs at shares but I was told that about the stouts...

 

Yeah they are pretty hard to get. they crowler some stuff and release it but only to go beer I ever got from there was IPAs that were crowlered. They do sell crowlers of the stouts but they release them there only from what I understand. We try to go twice a year and hit Answer, Veil and Triple Crossing it is heaven between those three.

 

Target my stock has been loaded and your box is being prepared I may grab one more ct brew if i can track it down

 

The last couple of days have been real interesting concerning beer boxes. And sorry, but this is going to be a long post.

On Thursday I was scheduled to receive a box from a trading partner that contained DDH Ghost in the Machine. Then on Friday my BIF from @GoatmanBrewsMD was scheduled to be delivered.

Late Thursday I get a notice from Fedex that my DDH Ghost box wasn't going to be delivered because it was damaged. F@$k. It said that it would be handled per shippers direction. Well, I created the label so it has me as the sender and the recipient. I wondered how they were going to handle it. Decided to just wait and see what happened with it.

Okay, so Friday comes and I'm anxiously awaiting my BIF box. But....the last tracking update on it was on Thursday indicating that it arrived at the local FEDEX hub. The same hub that my damaged box from Thursday is at. I kept watching on Friday and it never updated. Hmmm... I'm really hoping that it's not getting flagged or tied up due to the damaged package from Thursday. I kept waiting and waiting all day. Got home around 4pm and it still hadn't updated. F@$k. What's going on??

At 4:30pm my phone rings and its an unknown local number. I normally don't answer those calls but I thought maybe it was Fedex to ream me a new one about shipping beer and maybe I could sweet talk them into delivering it this time if i promised never to do it again (while crossing my fingers so I can tell a lie without it being a sin). I say Hello and a lady replies back asking if this is Russ. I reply yes and prepared myself to get laid into. She then starts telling me a story that Fedex delivered a box to her house that she thinks belongs to me. She said that it was all wrapped up and taped up but she found some pieces of the original label that had my name and phone number. Ah, so here is the damaged package from Thursday. No idea how she got it but at least its somewhere I can get it. I tell her that I will come over right away and pick it up if she would give me her address, assuming that it's only a couple houses away. I was shocked when she told me that she lived in a town that is 30 miles away! What??? WTH Fedex? I had plans Friday night so we agreed that I would drive over on Saturday to pick it up. I picked a time later in the day because I was hoping that Fedex was just being lazy on Friday and would deliver my BIF box on Saturday morning.

Saturday morning comes and I check tracking on my BIF box. Still hasn't update. WTF??? It came time to drive the 30 miles to go pick up my damaged DDH Ghost box so I left while being really disappointed that my BIF still wasn't here. I meet the lady and she pulls out a box from her back seat. Interesting... doesn't look to be in bad shape at all. And, it's a bigger box than I was expecting from the DDH ghost. Hmmm.... I thank her and she leaves and I take the box and sit it in the trunk. I start looking at it and the label on the box is addressed to her. what?? I open the box and laying on top of the styrofoam shipper is several shredded pieces of paper. Looking closer at the pieces of paper I see that its a Fedex label and the sender is Kenneth, i.e. @GoatmanBrewsMD. It was my BIF box !!!! Everything in the box was safe and sound. No damaged beers at all.

So, the original label for the BIF box was damaged and Fedex had to relabel it. I have absolutely no idea how the hell they screwed up and put some other unrelated label on the box as a replacement. I also have no clue why the lady said that it was all wrapped and taped up and was sticky. It showed no sign of damage at all. I'm happy that it was my BIF box. The DDH ghost box is still undelivered and who knows whats going to happen with it, but I'm happy it's the one I'm still waiting on and not the BIF box.

Sorry for the long story, but it's been an interesting couple days and thought some of you might be interested in hearing about it. I will post the beer **** shortly.

Kenneth did a great job with a nice mix of styles within my somewhat narrow preferences and providing all new ticks (except one) and three new brewery ticks. Looking forward to the Imperial 1st meal. I loved the BA version and have heard that some people like the base Imperial version better.

Also, ridiculous story about the two boxes @rspauldi -- I wonder if a bunch of boxes were damaged and they found backup labels for some of them but put them back on the wrong boxes?? I always do what Kenneth did (with the extra label inside the box) but I don't think I've ever had one opened.
