Fantastic DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate toasted biscuit, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness, minimal hop astringency. Pretty aggressive, but easy drinking. Minimal warming 9.4%. Awesomely juicy, dank, and vibrant Simcoe/Amarillo hop complexity; nice malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness. Not as amazing as I remember when I first had it, but still really outstanding classic hopped DIPA. 4 months old and holding up amazingly. Have a few left. Looking forward to Harvest ale next.

Amazing batch this year as usual. Flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, brownie batter, marshmallow, vanilla, caramel, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, smoke, charcoal, raisin, fig, cherry, and dates. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Very full bodied creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel; some light slickness, chalky roast, and barrel tannins. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter char and bourbon/oak tannin. Very smooth sipper, mildly warming 12.9%, zero barrel booze. Definitely a step up from the base beer on complexity, super rich. Classic RIS flavors with awesome barrel presence; without being overly tannic, drying, or boozy. Love the marshmallow/fudge brownie notes that come from the barrel aging. Gets easier to find with every release. Still have another can left.

Amazing milkshake DIPA! Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, blackberry, blueberry, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate vanilla, cream, wheat, biscuit dough malt sweetness; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal. grassy, spicy bitterness; and slight fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/bready malt/lactose, light sticky hops, and slight lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Great soft feel, not aggressive. Dangerously smooth, minimal warming 8.6%. Awesomely juicy/light dank Mosaic hops with nice Blackberry presence; great wheat/oat/malt and vanilla/lactose balance, no overly sweet/heavy from lingering bitter dryness. Might be getting a 2nd pack at this point. Still have 2 other variations to review.

Fantastic! Flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coffee, molasses, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, apricot, apple, and yeast earthiness. Similar aromas, a bit more fruity; bit of booze as it warmed, but not overwhelming. Light herbal/roast bitterness and yeast/bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; balanced creamy/bready/silky malts and bourbon/oak tannins in the mouthfeel; light sticky hops and chalky roast. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter/spicy/tannic dryness. Dangerously smooth, lightly increasing warmth of 13.7%, with mild barrel booze after the finish. Really outstanding rich malt complexity and barrel integration/balance. Stout flavors are more prominent, with the Quad/yeast character notes coming in the background. Boulevard BA beers are always impressive.

Like I mentioned yesterday, the small town of Phoenixville, PA has a number of breweries featuring a number of really tasty beers. Here is another one for @JamFuel to consider when he visits the area. It's called Crowded Castle and only offers their products on draft (and crowlers) so one needs to make the trek out to Phoenixville. I decided to try their English Pale Ale by the name Over The Moat and oh boy was it tasty. Fruity, moderately hopped and with a very thick and smooth mouthfeel. Good thing it's a low ABV beer or I'd be in trouble drinking this so early. Most English Pale Ales made in the US tend to have a faded hops profile and not enough fruity esters but this one was absolutely spot on! Tasty stuff.

    Can't think of any time of day a Pilsner won't do . . .

Beautiful, clear lighter shade of gold color with substantial white cap and lacing.

Aroma of sweet, biscuity malt with floral, spicy hops.

Taste is malt forward with a touch of sweetness that rapidly evolves into a clean, bracing bitterness from the spicy hops while retaining the underlying malt. The malt is substantial in a fuller bodied, bready way with a touch of graham cracker. If malt is the Artillery hops are the Calvary in this field winning charge.

Back at the bar this afternoon, with a Beavertown “Lupuloid”, billed as a strong extra pale, but it’s an American IPA at 6.7% and full of bitter earthy/citrus hops:

Another solid beer with great nose. Cheers!
