I sometimes play the Antiques Roadshow drinking game while I'm drinking and watching Antiques Roadshow. My TV, my rules.

    "Veneer!!"

    Haha yep...and,

    *nerd alert!*

the story for any Witcher game being great is certainly a subjective opinion. It might have made more sense to someone that read the books, but playing the game as an independent entity, a lot of plot hooks felt shoe-horned in (oh, let's give him a daughter!), while too many subplots pulled the focus away from the main plot regarding the Wild Hunt to a distracting level. This dragged me back in time to the old school convention of "do my NPC chores so you can proceed in defeating all teh evil and saving the world." They just gave these chores an edgier presentation. I actually "liked" the story in 2 better, but even that's relative.

My biggest gripe though was the tedious level of item management that game gets into. It gave me the feeling that nearly everyone that worked on that game has a debilitating hoarder complex.

    *Okay, nerd rage has passed*

I was more talking about last minute goals, horrible ai defending, random BS in general. In fact FIFA is kind of the reason I don't play games really anymore. I get such a dopamine rush from it and nothing compares. But it also makes me so angry so I gave it up. Is 19 less frustrating?

Of course. A few Two Hearted Ales give me the courage to go for it on 4th & 7 from my own 30 yard line in Madden.

Great post OP. I don't get as much time as I would like but I still play some games and relax with beers. I have always enjoyed different games and with kids it makes it more fun showing them the old school stuff, etc.
    Cheers and good post!

I have Assassin's Creed Odyssey pre-loaded and waiting for when I get off work. I'll stop playing when I'm too fucked up to control my character.

I'm not much of a video game collector, but I'd love to have a Track and Field cabinet game in my house.

Plus it makes a nice table for holding beer.

I always play multiplayer online or offline games with a beer in hand. I'm also a fan of a nice rougelike and some beer. Most single player games I play sober though.

I game alot and I drink a lot, but usually not at the same time. I'm not a very good gamer, and drinking sure doesn't make me any better... Beer and music on my headphones is my place of bliss...

Yes, and no. Defending is so much more realistic, and keeping form in defense is so much more crucial than it used to be. Rush a center back into the midfield to make a tackle, and you better not miss. I feel if you really love the game, and have good pace on the field it's a hell of a good time!

I am all about this post. I play Destiny 2 with some like minded folks. Our clan name is BEER which stands for Beer Enthusiasts Exotic Rifles. It's such a relief to get on with the guys and enjoy nice IPA while playing. Our discord app fills up with Beer pics all day. When we raid, if I get carried by the 5 other teammates and we get a Win, I send everyone some Treehouse. They all lose their minds over it. It's something I look forward too.

Binding of Isaac Greed Runs with double IPAs can be fun. But, a group of friends and myself did X-COM for a while, with whiskey. Strategy games seems to lend very well to the drinking and gaming thing.

Might do that again with Valkyria Chronicles 4 at some point.

Nice. This makes me want to give War Thunder a try. I've also heard that Post-Scriptum and Hell Let Loose are other good "realistic" WW2 games.

Hahaha, I didn't like it when I first played it a year ago. I've been on an RPG kick of late and finally after "only" 10 hours of gameplay it finally clicked with me. I'm a fan. I love the graphics, the open world environment, the characters. I'm enjoying it so far but I can see that it will get tedious.

The new GoW is still on my list of "games to play". Can't wait.

I'm weird, I actually liked the clunkier gameplay of Witcher 1. Maybe it's my mouse+keytboard control bias. Never got to play Witcher 2.

Elder Scrolls is amazing. I've been playing since Morrowind. Kinda bummed they never remastered Oblivion. Can't wait for TES 6 though it's still years and years off.

I'd like to add that Mass Effect used to be one my favorite franchises. I still can't believe how badly they fucked up those games...

All opinions are subjective:slight_smile: but yes, I'm very lost in the story. I have no idea what is going on. The atmosphere and setting of the game is what I am enjoying the most so far.....and Gwent.

As I mentioned earlier, check out GOG.com for some classic games that may or not be nostalgic to you. Can't praise them enough!

Nice. There is a really good chain of craft beer cars with arcades called Barcade. If you ever find yourself in the NY/CT/NJ/PA area you should definitely check it out.

@Izzy_Izumi damn i almost forgot about strategy games. Age of Empires was my favorite back in the day. Civilization series is also one of my favorite ever (all of the Sid Meier games really, Pirates!, Alpha Centauri...you can't go wrong). X-Com is definitely fun but it just gets so damn hard after a while and i HATE it when my leveled characters get killed. Really makes me just stop playing lol.

I hear good things about Valkyria Chronicles. On my list!

So happy I never gave Mass Effect a chance, because I'm sure I would just be sooo disappointed with their developer. I'll get my space fix whenever Starfield comes out. I trust Bethesda with open world games!
