Drinking an economy brand Swedish Export (though without volume discounts the savings are marginal). It is a beer which is disliked by alot of people who drink other brands of Swedish Export lagers. On the other hand it was the most sold beer for quite a few years. I used to think it had a strange flavor and neither liked it or disliked it, but either they changed the brewing process or my tastes changed because nowadays I think it's quite tasty with a mildly bittersweet taste and some light but present hop aromas and flavor. There's a houseflavor there also but I think it adds character to the beer.

Last can of the Northern Powerhouse Brew Series. This is a stout by Wylam and Buxton with a lot of stuff in it...

[IMG] So my 1,800 beer and it is a monster. Just picked it up as fresh as it gets. Pours a gorgeous hazy orange yellow, with a solid finger of sticky white head that leaves a thin film around the entire glass before slowly settling. 5

Smell is apricot, papaya, guava, pineapple, mandarin orange, and healthy dose of grapefruit rind, wowza! 5

Taste follows really exceptional a tropical fruit bomb, that just dazzled your palate before you get a sharp hit of grapefruit in slightly bitter but balanced finish. 5

Mouthfeel is big, moderate amount of carbonation, soft on the tongue and the entire palate gets a thick film that covers your entire palate, and a NETIPA at 11% ABV I need to slow down, but it is so darn tasty it makes it near impossible. 5

Overall you all know how much I love this place and this may be the best thus far and a perfect score is difficult but I wouldn’t change a thing. A masterpiece. 5

I guess if you drink the cheap brands you are either young, a drunk, or have an unhealthy fascination with beer which forces you to keep it in your rotation enough times to where it starts to grow on you :stuck_out_tongue:. I buy most of the Swedish macro brands but on an irregular basis, checking back in on brands I haven't had in a while to see if my tastes have changed or if the beer has changed, and a few I buy regularly.

I have heard about others saying the same thing (online). I was shocked to hear it quite frankly. You would think that the yellow and blue color scheme would be a giveaway .

Must be a southern Swedish thing :stuck_out_tongue:. I think it would have to be similar to a commonly known Spanish word for it to make sense. But I hear what you are saying and I do see other people have come across the same confusion. I just shake my head :astonished:.

Haha....good one....we have moved on to spring beers by then!

Not really - by Thanksgiving, mostly what you see - at least around me in NE Ohio, are Christmas / holiday beers and stouts - along with a gazillion types of IPA's etc - you may still be able to find some pumpkin brews then, it depends on where you are...a lot
