So I bought a 12 pack of Super Cluster bottles...
    The 12 pack carton said 8 2 2989
I thought ok...298 has to be Julian date...
Opened the 12 pack and it says 187 for the Julian date....
So pissed - why do they have to do this?!!
Sorry community - I know there are tons of Lags threads - just venting!

If it was brewed on day # 298 it would not have been brewed yet!!

The date on the carton should be consistent with the dates on the bottles within the carton. This is definitely something that Lagunitas should not be doing.

There is an ongoing thread about Lagunitas laying off 12% of their workforce in the Beer News and Releases forum. This sort of misrepresentation by Lagunitas is a poor business practice and it certainly not helpful to a need for them to increase beer sales.

    Cheers!

I wish it was an international law that all products be labeled clearly with a simple to understand packaged on date.

We don't need no steenkin' law. Just refuse to buy products that aren't clearly dated.

Their beer sales have increased. Their sales are not moving in the same direction as their workforce manpower.

To me your logic is flawed. Of course you can refrain from purchasing. But are you really going to argue that it wouldn't be better if everyone HAD to clearly date their products?

We don't need a law for every perceived (or real) slight in life.

Walt, aren't you the one in another thread espousing Libertarianism? And, now you want more regulation?

This, this, and this. I don't need armed thugs from alphabet-soup gub'mint agencies telling me what to do. If you don't like my undated product, don't buy it.

Your completely correct, but in this particular instance I was fine with advocating for one. I work in the liquor industry, so this may affect me much more then the average consumer. I literally hear hundreds of dating complaints weekly... And I HAVE to carry certain undated products because they sell well for me. It would just make life a lot easier on myself and my customers.

I would agree literally 99.9% of the time.

Lol, is it strange that I'm glad you called me out? And yes I understand this is certainly a major conflict with my usual ideals... What can I say? I guess I'm just getting tired of the constant battle with bottle codes...

Ok, Ok, your right. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. I guess I had a momentary lapse of judgement induced by this seemingly never ending "problem".

And again your right with your initial post as well, you can just refrain from purchasing it. Now if only my customers would understand why I don't want to carry certain products, thus I could refrain from purchasing them as well.

Exactly. How many craft beer consumers don't care when their beer was made, or have even considered that?

I wouldn't mind having a law that required accurate bottle dating similar to a food product.

Agreed but also make sure you email them and let them know why you did not purchase their product. I think communicating this is key.
