Nice duo release coming up this Thursday, Sticky Gummy and Blackberry Smack This. Sticky will have cans, the Blackberry will be crowlers and growlers to go but no cans. Both are really solid brews.

Noon Whistle put out a comment on Facebook, they aren’t allowing dogs in the taproom anymore. I’m gutted :slight_frown: was always nice bringing the pooch along.

They didn’t say specifically but from how it’s worded I assume a dog bit a customer or another dog.

It's almost as if cramming a dog into a strange place with a bunch of strangers and other dogs and people not accustomed to strange dogs and mixing that with alcohol is a terrible idea.

Not to turn this into dog advocate but I dunno, I lived in Prague for 5 and a half years and it is the most dog friendly city I've ever been too, there are free dog poop bags on nearly every other corner and dogs are allowed in nearly every bar / pub / restaurant / cafe / park / on every form of metro & public transportation etc and I never saw a problem. Since I've moved back here the amount of people that have grabbed my dog without asking, pet her without asking, leaped at her to pet her without asking, yelled out at her etc, has been pretty outrageous. That said, I don't bring her to dog friendly bars here because a majority of people seem to think every dog is their friend for some reason combined with American sue culture and I've decided it's better to just leave the dog at home.

yeah its unfortunate. i can absolutely see both sides and it is an understandable decision.

growing up with dogs, there were some i would never even think to bring into a crowded bar with strangers. they would be anxious as hell the entire time and hate it. my current pup is incredibly friendly and for the most part incredibly calm. i've brought her with me to noon whistle a handful of times, usually just for a drink or two or to grab some to-go. hell the wife and i went to noon whistle sometimes specifically because we could bring her. it was always a great option.

i will of course still frequent the tap room. just sucks someone ruined it for everyone. i cant blame the dog, it would be the owner anyway you slice it imo.

Never understood the dog at taproom attraction. Could possibly understand a German style biergarten where there is a ton of room.

We brought our pup once to Empirical's taproom and that was enough. She just laid there on the floor bored out of her mind. Didn't really touch her chew toys. I think she preferred to just lay in her bed or play with her toys at home than get dragged to a dumb taproom to roll her eyes at her owners drinking beer.

My buddy had a dog snap at him at Noon Whistle about 2 years ago."oh he never does that" yea because he has never been in a loud bar before with 70 people talking/walking around him, asking to pet him etc...I have always had dogs but would never bring them to a bar. The only thing that can happen is something bad. Its not like the dog is going to wake up the next day and think about what an awesome time it was to go to Noon Whistle.

If it's during lunch, with a ton of space for the dog to be comfortable, I'm all for it. The last thing I want to see is a dog who clearly does not want to be there, but is forced to wait for it's owner to grab a few pints.

The Open Bottle had a dog-friendly event a few years ago that was benefiting a dog adoption facility that sounded awesome. I brought my dog since he has no problems with other dogs, and loves meeting new dogs. There was a lady with her dog inside (which was packed by the way) who saw me coming and said, "please don't come this way, he (pointing to her dog) doesn't like other big dogs and might attack". WHY THE HELL IS HE HERE THEN?

Sure enough, she was walking behind me outside later and her dog snapped at mine. I could clearly see my dog was instantly uncomfortable, and leery of every other dog at that point, so we left. I was extremely upset at this woman for even thinking bringing her dog there was a good idea.

The only time dogs should be in a brewpub is if they are on the menu....

I haven't had any trouble with dogs at NW, but did see some issues at Hailstorm with dogs wandering around trying to mooch food, barking and acting aggressively against other dogs. Like with children, the real problem is with owners not paying attention or bringing dogs that are not well suited to be in such an environment.

I was reading some FB comments and it's hilarious that people won't go back because dogs are now banned.

Isn't bringing your dog really deep down a cry for attention? Look at my dog, pet my dog, I have a dog. Not to mention the fact that they are making beverages in the same room with dog dandruff and hair everywhere.

for some maybe, but thats being pretty general dude. most of the time id bring my dog in we would post up at the bar or outside and not really be bothered. it was more so because my dogs family, one of my best friends. had nothing to do with seeking attention. if i was going for a release it was nice knowing i could bring her instead of leaving her at home alone.

i can see where you are going though. there is a chick on facebook that is raging a fucking crusade about this change, its a little over the top.

I would imagine its an insurance issue as well. I would think they are liable if a dog mauls someone on their property.

The cry for attention thing was more of a joke...but kinda true, sorry. This whole things reminds me of the Will Ferrell F'in dog skit on SNL...

Also, what if nobody notices that a dog peed on the floor, and slips in it? It's also a cleanliness issue the owner(s) have to deal with - generally speaking, dogs are dirty, and dogs shed. If the doors/windows are open, dog fur/dander could be blowing around your business. My dog sheds A LOT, and even with vacuuming every day, we still see his tumbleweeds of fur blow across our living room when the windows are open.

Those are obviously hypothetical, it just depends if the business owner is willing to deal with those, and related situations.
