Correct. It is a straight up Leipzig style Gose. And the aroma is not real strong on that in the first place. It has a subtle salinity, but it’s noticeable. And the sourness is probably a little higher than some German versions, but definitely way more tempered than American ones.

Here is one from my BIF box from @r0rschach

Put a Blueberry on It from Turning Point Beer
    [IMG]
Pours a bright purple with pink frothy head. Bubbles settle into thin collar around the glass.

Aroma is blueberry candy, sweet tarts.

Big blueberry flavor, blueberry pie with a bit of mineral and just the slightest hint of grassy grain.

Light, crisp, dry. Carbonation is a bit effervescent.

Nice brew, sweet and tart blueberry flavors mix nice with crisp and tart base brew.

    Thanks @r0rschach

Decadent Ales just arrived into Vermont distro for the first time. I had their Blueberry Cream Pop Friday night and I have to say it's the first Milkshake IPA I've enjoyed. Here's their Citrus Citra, a DIPA with orange peel.

Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a very cloudy to murky body. Uh-oh, me and murky don't usually get along. Nose of all kinds of tropical fruit and citrus. Also, a bit of onion wafting in and out as well. Taste mirrors nose but with a dryness near the finish of pine and citrus pith bitterness. After that there is a bit of sweetness that comes back to reclaim your taste buds. Interesting. Very nice feel at first but then that murkiness takes over with a sort of grittiness that hastens the exit of proper carbonation. Oh well, the hazybois will enjoy this. Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed! I figured it would be unexpected for the mystery brew and it was something I definitely enjoyed more than expected.

#2, this is more like a nitro black oat IPA - and I like it. Also from @TongoRad

An uber aggressive pour reveals a beer that is jet black with a tan head. Lovely. The nose is char, toffee - and do I smell fruity hops?

Judging by the taste, I certainly do. There’s char and toffee flavors to the style, but there’s a significant fruity hop component that I’m enjoying immensely. A nice beer for a cool, misty fall evening in Northern Indiana.

I feared that CBS might be the next one. As for figuring it out, I am hoping our collective brains can find a good option at some point. If noting else it seems we have a volume of brains pondering the subject

This has finally arrived in SoCal and I grabbed a 4-pack. Figured this would be a good time to crack one open! Poured from fridge temp into a snifter. Pours a nice brownish red with a good amount of white/tan head. Reminds me of a nice barleywine. I'm getting a lot of fruit on the nose. Grapes, figs, and some blackberry. Also picking up a decent amount of caramel and sweet maple. In general, the nose isn't strong. The taste is really nice. get a sweetness upfront, but a slight bitterness on the palate in the aftertaste. Definitely sweet from the maple, with some brown sugar notes. Nice and fruity. Caramel and candy are in there too. I am picking up some earthy notes - tree sap and even a bit of wheat. The mouthfeel is surprisingly thick and creamy. Not necessarily syrupy. Overall, I am really happy with this one. I'm glad I got a 4-pack.

New beer #7. Thanks @Bum4ever ! While I don’t love this beer, I appreciate the chance to try something new and weird. This one is off the charts strange.

    Synopsis:
I bet @thebeers was able to tell right away why my rDev is negative on this one. I’m predictable. It’s a super-weird beer, but it’s got a lot of positives. It looks surprising, smells nice, and has a solid body. But yeah...tastes like weed juice. I know most people like this, and I’m doing my best to appreciate it...but the weed taste is quite dominant. This would sell like bonkers in Colorado if branded strategically. Still appreciate the chance to try it, Josh.

A new Foreign Objects IPA, oh boy! This one is "From Stardust to Thoughtform," canned on 9/18/18. It is 6.7% ABV and features Galaxy, Cashmere and HBC-472 hops along with lactose. I am not a big lactose IPA fan, but the use of experimental hops here crossed with the fact that Foreign Objects is one of the best hoppy beer producers going right now leads me to believe that this will still be very solid. Let's hope for the best!

Pours a very cloudy (pretty much milky) light orange color with a nice cap of bone-white head sitting at about a finger-and-a-half at its highest point. Since this is really opaque, I can't tell if there's anything going on below the surface, but I can definitely say that this is a NEIPA, through and through!

This uses some pretty unique and unusual hops, so I'll touch on those before really getting into the meat of this review. Most people here probably know Galaxy, of course, but Cashmere is pretty unknown. My rather-pedestrian understanding of it is that it's kind of an American version of Motueka (a popular NZ hop that has bright lemon-lime characteristics), though it does bear its own powerful tropical notes as well. The HBC-472 is a "Neomexicanus" varietal which was among those used by Sierra Nevada in their pilot Wild Hop bottles. It's said that #472 has coconut and woody notes along with bright grapefruit and citric character. The nose of this beer is very intriguing, for sure, with a tannic backbone followed up by peach, grapefruit, tangerine and mango notes. It transitions to light grassiness and more stone fruit before some lighter red grapefruit starts appearing. This is a delicate and superb smörgåsbord of different, unique characteristics that work really well together!

The flavor is straight-up orange-pulp with mango-like tropical flavors and a bit of creaminess toward the finish. This is a really good use of lactose, by my approximation. It's not overly apparent, nor does it ruin the flavor profile at all. In fact, it's one of the very few beers I've had that uses lactose to a positive degree and not as some weird crutch. There's some solid bitterness toward the finish, but there are also some delicate and nice peach, apricot and fleshy mango elements. Light tannins (reminds me of an Idaho 7 hopped beer in that sense) with citrus and tropical notes once it acclimates to room temperature.

Feel is smooth and drinkable, with a low-medium carbonation and chalky yeast note. Experimental hop New England IPAs for the win!

Aroma is big juicy berry. I think it is super ripe raspberry. A hint jammy but still light and fresh.

Nearly perfect amount of berry flavor. Tastes like a fresh and very ripe raspberry right off the bush. I could be wrong, it may be blackberry, but they usually have less sweetness and are a bit more tart.

Crisp and a hint syrupy. Moderate carbonation with fine bubbles. Light body.

Delicious berry flavor, background doesn’t drown out the tartness, hint of mineral.

After just drinking a blueberry beer from @r0rschach i think this may be a similar brew. This one has a bit more fruit and sweetness but I’m gonna call it a raspberry Berliner Weiss

I will finish and then open the label envelope in a minute.

A vivid orange on the pour with a foamy, pure white head. The nose is filled with dank citrus notes - grapefruit and pineapple, but also sweet oranges.

The taste has truckloads of sweet oranges, and something that approaches lemongrass and a bit of malt to balance things. It’s astounding the amount of flavor packed into a 5.4% ABV beer.

Industrial Arts w/ The Ruck - Revisionist History

Like the two beers above from the same brewer, this beer is a "nitro" beer, but in this case it's an IPA. I was really looking forward to this. What a let down. It poured with practically no carbonation whatsoever. I gave the second half of the can a really aggressive pour, but still nothing substantial. I see that the two beers in the posts above had better results.

The look is slightly hazy amber. The beer is flat. The smell is orange marmalade. The taste is sweet apple juice, and apricot.

This beer wasn't worth my time nor my money. I'd be mad if I got a four pack. I really don't mind beers with very low carbonation, but in this particular case (when it's advertising itself as something else), it feels like the nadir of craft beer - and I'm not exaggerating. It gets an "exceptional" rating on BA. A pricey, local, highly respected brewery with a system that other brewers are envious of... and where's the QC? Rush out the product. Different beer after different beer. Could you imagine the folks at Guinness going to market with issues like this? Joke's on me.

I was pretty close. Not a Berliner, a Gose. And if I waited I probably would have figured it out. Salinity comes out as it warms and lingers in the aftertaste.

    Thanks @r0rschach

Happy late New Beer Sunday fellow NBSrs!

While I wait for a lovely bottle to chill from @2beerdogs i will start with this beauty from @Blackop555 .

Before I get into the beer, I would like to thank both BAs listed above.

Derek and Henry I truly appreciated the boxes you sent .

Derek I truly had no idea you were my sender even when I quoted your final hint that should have given it away! I cannot wait to start digging into the bottles you sent!

Henry I had so much fun busting your balls behind the scenes while your box was en route I enjoyed every second of it! But don’t worry I was even worse teasing @Bum4ever ! Henry I also cannot wait to drink your box down either!

    So thank you boys again!

So here is the first new beer for me today.

    And my amateur review

See you boys as soon as the other one chills!

Well as soon as I open the cap I can tell that my guess as to what this was going to be was not accurate. No problem there, sometimes it's good to be wrong!

Poured into my sweet new Resident Culture glass from the same box.
Deep dark body that you can tell if it weren't so dark would be a rich cherry red. Kind of merlot coloured. The head which swells up on the pour is a beautiful sultry lipstick red that lives hard and dies young settling into a vacant nothing that really seems a metaphor for our brief splashes on this planet, and absolute absence once it's done.

Nose is primarily sweet with a bramble of raspberries, maybe boysenberry, and a slight red wine tartness. Rich and sweet.

Flavour comes up with more of the same. Berry sweet and tart with a tart finish. This is all bramble with some red wine and a nice tart finish.

Fine points of carbonation in a dry body with a good tart finish...
I like this. I've professed my love for various berries on these pages before, and this one is a well executed berry wild ale.

    ...and for the reveal:

Sure enough! Westbrook Fruit/Wood/Time: Black Raspberry. I had the raspberry nailed, and the black aspect is probably what I was thinking of as boysenberry character. The sherry casks also probably contributed to the 'wine like' notes as well. The oak I didn't pick out on its own, but could have contributed to the wine and earthy 'bramble' type notes as well.
I really enjoyed this one from @Dragginballs76 , thanks Michael, and I can't wait to dig in to the rest of these boxes!!
