Im stopping in Brooklyn/Boerum Hill for a family event next Sunday afternoon. Ill be out of the event by 4 and have about 2 hours before ive got to hit the road. Aside from OH, any recommendations/must stops for breweries to hit for cans or a quick drink? Id prefer cans solely becuase i will be traveling by car for several hours.

    Thanks in advance.

I was going to say folksbier and threes for proximity’s sake. But if op is willing to go to interboro then may as well throw Grimm in there

Torst for a quick drink, not for to-go beer though.

If you want to be efficient, Grimm and Interboro is a good one-two since they're literally 2.5 blocks away, and both very good, if not great. Both also have always had cans to go.

And then KCBC is pretty close by (3 stops on the L train, 20 minute walk, less than 10 minute Uber/cab), and in my book they're one of the most underrated breweries in the city, and also always have cans.

You could easily spend no more than an afternoon doing all 3.

I didn't see a general 'NYC' thread so pardon me for jumping in here, but I didn't think a brand new thread was necessary. I'll be staying in NoMad tomorrow & Thursday. I've been to The Ginger Man before and also noticed Rattle N Hum East is close by, too. Any other can't miss suggestions for good local draft beer (Other Half, Interboro, Equilibrium, Finback, etc.), food, and bottle shops?

Haymaker isn’t too far (I work near nomad and walk there pretty often) and has a generally great selection

Second Haymaker. There’s a shop called Hops on 27th nearby as well. I’ve never been but their Instagram is pretty active and they’ve got all the local stuff that sees distribution to shops.

If you see Root + Branch on a menu, order it.

As yes, how could I forgot about Haymaker. I usually kill some time there before my train. Thanks for the suggestions so far. @Megamanmmx good looking out. I just checked out their Instagram, that looks great!

I was just at The Jeffrey this past weekend and didn't know but it was their anniversary. That tap list was insane. I feel like my expectations are too high after that. Phew.

Great places but hardly convenient for someone staying in nomad

My friend is staying near Times Square by 36th & 7th, which is approx half mile from NoMad, so these suggestions def apply, thank you! Wanted to inquire if there were any other recs in the Times Square area, perhaps north or west of those cross streets? Thoughts on District Tap House?

    Breweries to try (on draft):
    Other Half
    Interboro
    Equilibrium
    Finbac
    Threes
    Folksbier
    Grimm
    KCBC
    Root + Branch

Any other must-try breweries to look out for, including other regional breweries that may not be available in Chicago/Midwest? Is Decadent recommended?

    Really appreciate it.

You can do worse, but unless you end up at a place where that's the only loca-ishl/craft option, you can miss it. I've enjoyed their straight up DIPA, but can't get into their smoothie thing.

Your list just amount rounds it out, but I'd have to recommend LIC Beer Project and Industrial Arts, as far as readily available local options go. If Hudson Valley Brewery is available, any of their sour IPA are a must-try. If you happen to see District 96 or Sand City make sure to check it out, but those come around pretty infrequently.

Around 36th & 7th the best options would probably be Haymaker, Ginger Man, and Rattle N Hum. If you end up in the Hell's Kitchen area, make sure to check out As Is.

Definitely a fine spot and often has a lot of the breweries you mentioned on tap. It's a big bar that's very crowded in the 6-8:30pm area since it's near a commuter hub, but it clears out pretty early and can often grab seats at the bar after that. Side note, not sure if anyone else shares the love of their Brussel Sprout dish as much as I do. It's fantastic.

Adding to @Megamanmmx ’s post. District Tap House always has good beer on tap, and will always have good local choices. The best and worst thing about it is that it caters to people getting off work much more than beer lovers. This is a good thing because the customers there can be a more enjoyable group than a bunch of beer sniffers, but it’s a bad thing in that this is reflected in their customer service and care for their product. That’s just based on personal experience though. It wouldn’t be my first choice in the area - those would be Haymaker and Rattle N Hum West (which is really close by) in that order, but District Tap House is a good choice if it’s convenient and if they have something you want. All three of those places use beermenus - so you can always pick one based on their current taplist.

Boerum Hill Visitor - people are saying Grimm and Interboro, that is about a 20-30 minute drive from BH but well worth the trip. If you don't want to drive far your best options are Other Half, Threes, and St Gambrinus.

NOMAD visitor - best spots in the city are GingerMan, Haymaker, and As Is.

Going to Irving plaza for a show on the 26th, any recommendations for good beer and food before hand?
