I have no idea how I would rank the different years. I just know I love it every time.

So I bought two packs from Whole Foods San Jose before even trying it, had 2 bottles so far. I do think it's not as good as previous years but it could also be palate fatigue. It's very crushable and floral. I'd give it a 4/5.

I wasn't impressed. I had some that had been bottled less than a week ago, and thought it was just average.

actually enjoying this year's quite a bit, more so than last year's if memory serves. great aroma and extremely drinkable. definitely worthy of a repeat buy, but we'll see how many i get through with all the other fresh options around here.

Where are you guys seeing there's citra in this beer? My bottle says mosaic, amarillo, equinox and "other special varieties".

Code on the bottle is 1 0522.

Damn, simcoe and citra. Bummer we're getting a version with the shitty hops down here in SD (sorry equinox+amarillo, you're second class citizens in my book).

But at least it’s fresh, unlike the regular IPA on the shelf. I haven’t seen it yet myself in CT, though can’t say I’m really looking

Are there two 'versions' of Born Yesterday this year? One is brewed using Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic hops while the other is brewed with Mosaic, Amarillo, Equinox and "other special varieties"? Is this a CA vs. Chicago brewery thing?

    Cheers!

I'm still looking for it here. I'm definitely going to pick some up if I find some. This and Waldos' are my favorite seasonal IPAs.

No, it's the same version between Petaluma and Chicago. Chicago labels said the same thing "Mosaic, Amarillo, Equinox and "other special varieties". Perhaps the labels were printed prior to them knowing which hops would be selected from the harvest? I dunno but I'd trust the brewmaster in a video over what is printed on the label.

    I suppose that could be.

I went to the Lagunitas website to see if I could learn more. Below is what the website states (with some emphasis in bold by me):

"Born Yesterday is a newborn version of our re-born Pale, a Newer New Dogtown Pale with a fresh addition … We added some wet, lupulin-drenched, un-kilned, whole-cone, fresh-picked-and-rushed-straight-from-Yakima hops for your immaculate reception. This Un-Freakin-Filtered, wetter-than-wet beer has 11lbs-per-barrel of Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic and Indigenous Catawampus. Whoa."

So, is this beer just brewed with "some" wet hops or is it a solely wet hoped beer?

    Cheers!

Anyone else see Jack losing sleep and going Da Vinci Code on this beer?

I'm thinking it's just poorly worded on the website and it's all wet hops. I'd be a bit disappointed if it were not.

Also, I've always wondered about this. Is it a hop variety or what?

I have no freakin' clue what is going on with this year's Born Yesterday. The label says one thing, the website/brewer says something different. Maybe Lagunitas thinks this is 'good' marketing? What I can tell you as a consumer I find this crap very annoying. The label of the beers that are available for purchase should be 100% consistent with what the product inside the bottle IMO. I really try to not be negative about Lagunitas but this stuff does not help their cause IMO.

    Cheers!

No. One recipe brewed in two locations. Hops are Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic.
