Yesterday I went to Noble Ale Works, and what do you know? DDH Platinum - a Hazy IPA can release. Then today I went to Bottle Logic, and the only two IPA’s on tap - both Hazy’s. Later in the evening, your boy went to Bradley’s liquor in Tustin and he couldn’t find a fresh/new West Coast IPA to save his life. So I ended up settling for Abnormal Hazy Dreams - which isn’t all that bad as I drink it, but it’s fairly standard. 5 years ago it seemed that the only Hazy’s that made a name for themselves were world class ones, yet now in my struggle/failure to find a West Coast IPA, I find myself settling for average Hazy’s.

I've probably drank a case of Good Green over the past month, so I would say they're alive and well.

Not even close to being dead. I still see large selections of West Coast IPA’s both on tap and bottles. But it’s true that more and more hazy’s are popping up all the time. Seems like most breweries are adding at least one to their lineup.

Yes. West Coast IPAs are dead. Do not drink anything by Beachwood, especially Simcoast to Coast

@RaulMondesi . We are now officially changing your BA name to @ Yasiel Puig. I pray to the the beer Gods that the OG west coast IPA is FAR from extinct . You guys all know that I'm a long time Monkish fan, but I need to be quite honest with you, man can not exist on Monkish NEIPA beers alone, I drink a lot more west coast IPAs:astonished:. What do they say....." every thing in moderation "

    Cheers.

Dammit, don't even advertise it's name on here. I want as much as I can for myself. I fully regret not getting an entire cooler full during anniversary and have been drinking it every time I step foot into Beachwood. Probably the best new West Coast IPA they've made since....a while.

But DDH Ultrahop 2000 is pretty damn good too.

First of all, Bottle Logic does not do ipa’s (west coast, American, clear or hazy) good. Yes they have IPAs on tap and have occasional can releases. I hear great things about their BA stouts. When Noble’s was SoCal ipa godz back many moons ago they were the go to for ipas. As far as I’m concerned they are just trying to get by these days. No I haven’t tried Noble’s latest can release ddh Platinum. Maybe I can find somebody here who would be willing to exchange a can for one of my many cans of Revision haze. Isn’t Nobility a west coast ipa? Didn’t it win gold for imperial ipa at this year’s gabf? I have not had the latest batch of Nobilty so I can’t say how it is. But if it won gold........
Some of the best west coast ipa’s right now... Beachwood Simcoast to Coast, El Segundo/Noble collab Power Shower, ESBC Mayberry, if you can find it Revision IPA (cans/bottles or draft), Revision Simcoe Revenge, out of state Toppling Goliath Sosus DIPA (haven’t had this one yet-in search of) and another one from Revision called Citra Slam (brewery & crowler fills only).
My fridge is probably 70% haze cans right now. Only because I brought back a sh!te load of Revision’s latest can’s (which IMO is the best haze going).
Raul, when did you start drinking ipa’s? Before this haze thing started? My experience with ipas started way before this haze thing. My first experience with this haze thing was with Alpine Nelson, which wasn’t even called hazy back then. We all had no clue what style it was. But it was delicious. The first time I had anything hazy was OH Green Diamonds on draft in Manhattan in 2014. That was a year before Monkish and OH did their collab and bring haze to the west coast in 2015. For those youngsters who got into this craft thing probably fell in love with the haze craze and have no clue what’s going on with this thing called west coast ipa’s. I like the haze, but west is still the best...IMO. I can see those who love nothing but haze. It’s so much more citrusy, full of tropical flavors. West is more on the bitter side. But still got that citrus taste. I think @HopHead89 would agree with you @RaulMondesi.

Half agree with you frost man. Only because they do have a lot of haze on draft right now. Not so much on the west. But I’m sure Ian has some great west recipes coming soon. Hell, Super Duper Cali is SC on steroids. I hope they will bring back the can releases. I’m sure Ian wants to get well situated at his new venue first. But RiiP is def on the ipa radar.

I'm ok with them having close to a full board and nothing distro'd, I'm sure it'll change. Also I'm feeling that they're not trying to be a huge brewery with hyper local being the current trend.

Ah, it's time for this thread again already?

No, WC IPAs aren't dead. For fun, stop by your local liquor store and count craft beer styles. I bet I know which one is going to be the most highly represented.
