Thanks. There's a slight problem with my left shoulder, but the Chiropractor doesn't think it's bad, and it won't take much to get it back to normal.

An absolutely stellar brew from @FlintB and his gifted LIF box. Bourbon, chocolate, oak vanillin, toffee, and a touch of anise with a tad of belgian yeast- clove/banana. Awesome. Thank You![IMG]

Sorry man. A lot of the fun from these is the feedback you get on the beers you send. I try to really put the time in my selections to BIF and I’m sure you do too. Feedback is just as important and sometimes not everyone is on the same page.

Opened this one from @Roguer tonight.

Spent some time after the boy’s school at the cider mill. It was cool with blustery winds. I needed a warming and big beer. This’ll do.

2018 version, 22 ounce bottle. Poured into tulip.Pours a deep, dark brown, with root beer highlights . Medium brown head. But recedes quickly.
I got a big whiff of Jamaican rum upon opening first, then roast. Molasses, chocolate, vanilla too. I can’t get back to the rum on the nose. Even Mrs Strohme2 can’t get any rum.
The taste is mildly dark chocolate, raisins, smooth rum, vanilla, coffee. Mellow bite of pepper. Or cinnamon. Something spicy. The spice does not linger but I can tell that it’s there. Reminiscent of a spiced rum cake.
Slick mouthfeel and a body on the thicker side. This beer is fairly sweet but I’d expect that with the adjuncts.
Overall, everything is blended seamlessly. No alcohol booze, just flavors that transition from one to another until they fade away.

Yea having @Ozzylizard review the beers I sent has been awesome. I feel like he puts my reviews to shame, because my palate is pretty basic sometimes.

Cracked another from the awesome @WesMantooth box:

Pretty dark golden color with a small amount of white head. Smell is tropical and citrus hops with sort of a sweet/sugary scent? Sort of like cotton candy maybe? Taste is fruity and bitter hops followed by a caramel flavor. Light to mediumish body with a nice dry finish. Always down to try a nice hop forward beer, in this hazy IPA world.

    Thanks Corey!

Glad you liked it, Justin! Glad you went with the base beer first, too.

For me, El Mariachi isn't on the level of Bomb!, but that's mostly because it's so sweet. It lends itself very well to barrel treatment, though, IMO.

    Cheers!

Sorry folks, wasn't able to get anything out sunday. Hopefully i get my shit together by next week!!! Luckily, doesn't rly look like anyone is lacking on drinking options this round. Some of y'all basically got another cellar lol

@Victory_Sabre1973 I'm glad you made it out safely from the deer run in! I have no experience with that, even with many upstate trips as a youngster, i guess they just weren't upstate enough. A family friend once hit a bear though! With one of those old school jaguars with the hood ornament. Pretty sure the bear was OK with it...the car not so much

Now I feel like a d bag because I went off. What I mean to say is just drop a quick note on a couple of beers you liked or didnt. No big deal.

Love to see you mention the sweet/sugary aspect. The first time I had it was at a bottle share at Hoof Hearted and thought it tasted like someone dumped a cup of granulated sugar in it. Bought another bottle the next year to try it on a clean slate and it was much better, but still pretty sweet for a fresh hop

Yea not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s in there. Especially in the smell.

So, in a previous lifetime, I was an OTR truck driver. Yup, semi's. 80,000 lbs rolling down the road. my company assigned me to this particular run; pick up a load a couple miles from my house, drive that trailer to the Harrisburg PA area, pick up a different trailer (for the same customer), and drive it back. A hair under 600 miles a day, and I was usually home in time for Letterman.

Well, one particular evening, I was trucking along on NY Route 54, between Hammondsport and Penn Yan, next to beautiful Keuka Lake, about 1 am, and sure enough, damn bambi's dad pops over the guard rail. During training, they had drilled into our heads: IF there's no reasonable way to avoid hitting something, hit it square. Don't try to be a hero and swerve all over the place, A $150,000 truck, plus the value of the freight, ain't worth it.

I grab a gear, get the brakes as best I could, and drill Joe Buck. Sonovabitch hopped over the other guardrail, and bounded off into the woods. Fucker. I barely limped into Penn Yan, leaking coolant the whole way. Company towed me down a different truck. A week or so later I happened to be in the yard, and asked about that sorry POS (that's what all the new guys get, the old crap). The head mechanic said; "it weren't worth fixin' boy, we wrote it off".

Fucking deer killed a tractor trailer. I'm sure that sucker died running up that hill, but i didn't get no venison!

    Asshole.

I wouldn't consider that going off and certainly not D-bag-ish. I agree. It's pretty damn lame. I've only participated in this round and that sort of behavior has annoyed me from afar from the get-go so I can only imagine if you've participated in multiple that it'd grate a little. Anyway, I think you're totally justified, don't beat yourself up too bad over it

No way, don’t feel bad about it. Participation and feedback is huge and a real part of why this BIF began and continues. I’ve had the misfortune of a lackluster participant of whom I’ve sent beer to. I get the frustration.
