Apparently @2beerdogs decided that I needed a few more cans to drink. That’s right box #3. A usps bomb shows up today with these beauties!

Derek, thank you again for another awesome box. I’m looking forward to these great looking cans. Your generosity has been incredible and will not be forgotten.

Now if you all will excuse me, it’s time to pay some of this generosity forward ......

    Cheers all!

Man between Corey and now @Roguer, I am ticking off wants left and right. Last new one for tonight:

Dark black with a small amount of dark tan head. Not to much lacing.
Smell is big coffee up front followed by chocolate, vanilla and nuts.
Taste follows the nose well. Coffee up front followed by the other flavors.
Little thin for me taste but it does have a good amount of carb and a crazy dry finish from the almonds.
Overall super enjoyable stout with some great flavors. It could be a bit thicker, but that's just picking nits.

    Thanks Andrew!

Forgive me if I told you this one before,

I had a client who was killed by a deer. Country road and they hit the deer. The deer went through the windshield. The deer kicked him in the head and killed him. The deer then climbed back out through the windshield and ran away.

Oh, you were upstate enough, you just were fortunate. I'm only like 8 miles north of the George Washington Bridge and I've seen too many hit deer to count along the parkway between here and the city. It's just been close calls for me so far, knock wood, but dealing with them is a way of life around here.

    Good Lord, that's awful.

I've been lucky, never hit a deer - though I have been hit by one. I was doing 50 or 55 in a fairly populated area when the fucker came flying out of some trees and blasts my car with his face, right in my driver's door. The deer goes down, pops back up, shakes its head, and wanders off. Dent in my door and some trim ripped off. Kill em all.

Don’t be so sure. I, and many others, have driven a factory sharpened broadhead through a lung and they showed up on cameras a week later.

He was a client for something else. You can't sue the deer.

In NJ if you were injured in the deer accident I mentioned, your car insurance would cover medical expenses.

    @beertunes
Wow! Depending on how they hit, they can do a ton of damage, just never thought that much.

@SammyJaxxxx Horrible. It makes me feel even more lucky. I know if it had been my previous car - a 98' Chevy Cavalier - my outcome would have been much worse than it was.

@FlintB Something similar happened to us on a previous trip to LotW. It was winter, and -30 outside when a deer ran into my friend's passenger mirror. Damaged the mirror slightly, and the SOB ran off.

Today's the day the car will be towed away, and if it is a total loss, which is likely the case, I've got a line on a new car. I should find out in a few days about that. Then I can start to get back to normal. I also go back to work later today. Let the "fun" after my "vacation" begin again. Might try to get a beer in tonight. We'll see.

    Glad your safe.

I know that feeling. Hit 3 of them with my old Jeep. Always had basic coverage so always had to fix it. They sure do a lot of damage. Then my kids mother hit 2 with other Jeep. Latest one was a year ago in car deer jumped out on me on a curve in road in the rain and slid off road and into trees at 40 mph... That did some damage. Then iI hit one about 5 years back going all out about 60mph on 4 wheeler.i went for a ride on that one. So i have no love loss for deer. I wouldn't care if they disappeared. I am a 5 minute drive from work and every night on my way home you see about ten standing on side of roads.

Don't feel bad. I'd like to see everyone call out non-participants. If there's a legitimate reason for their absence, hopefully they'll come online and explain. Everyone gets it that stuff happens.

    Just use your words, dudes.

I've been thoroughly enjoying some of those same beers - very nice @2beerdogs ! I had the Offshoot IPA last night - wasn't sure which one to review, but it's quite good. Very, very sweet though.

    Thanks again, Derek!

IBB is one of the more reliable stouts for me; I love grabbing it when I see it. I'd been drinking it for a while without even knowing about the adjuncts - I just thought it was sorcery, I suppose.

I'll weigh in on the non-participation issue. My perspective is a bit different, but not my conclusion.

    It drives me nuts.

Real life happens - I would never be remotely upset about that.

I've had to skip one of these because of "deliveries". At least two others (including this one), I've had to start my participation late, or even ask for special circumstances for both my target and my sender, because of my schedule.

Terry's always been more accommodating than necessary, and I think everyone's always understood that if I can't participate, it's because I literally cannot - there's no internet connection, no shipping address, nada.

(I've also had zero problem letting Terry know ahead of time if this is a problem, and have not only taken myself out of this BIF before, but offered to do so if at any time my schedule is too much of a problem.)

BUT if you sign up for one of these, that's the opening argument: you participate, you post in NBS, you honor the concept behind the entire BIF. It's not mandatory for Advocates to join any BIF, much less this one. Hell, you can get plenty of amazing new beer just from trades or friends.

The participation, the hints and hauls, and the NBS thread are what make this BIF special.

So when people are just generally in absentia, not because real life intervened, but because they just can't be bothered, it makes me wonder why they joined in the first place.

I very rarely take a hard line on things. I'm the "mom" at work - albeit a biting, sarcastic, offensive mom who day drinks (so a soccer mom, maybe). But I'd be in favor of excluding participants with a history of non-participation, and without some kind of external, real life reason. Like: once is a warning (and again: real life shit happens, and shouldn't be held against anyone!), but a pattern, on the other hand, is a pattern.

TLDR: 8 BIFs in, I don't mind if we start trimming the fat.

I don't know what it is exactly, I'm guessing some kind of jam or jelly. I put it in the fridge just in case.

Jacob, you really made my day with this package. Just totally knocked it out of the park. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well put. What I was trying to say. The fun is all the banter - pre and post reception and the feedback on beers received. Hell bad feedback is even good. All that being said I have edited my original post due to a package I received today.
