Looking do to a weekend Camping Trip within 4 hours of Philly, someplace that has Tent Campground available near a good brewery. Any Suggestions?
My first thought: Bear Mountain/Herriman Park in NY right down the road from Industrial Arts. Also a stone's throw from a handful of other excellent breweries.
Allaire State Park here in NJ. It'll put you ~15 minutes (and no more than 20) from about 10 different Monmouth/Ocean County breweries.
its a little further than you may want to drive, but devil's backbone (the brewery is now AB/InBev if that matters) has on-site/adjacent private camp ground. lots of good beer/cider/wine/spirit options in the vicinity as well as near-by hikes (blue ridge park way & southern end of shenandoah np) https://www.reserveamerica.com/camp...tyDetails.do?contractCode=PRCG&parkId=1067650
I camped up in the Catskills region using Tentrr and I hit up Suarez Family Brewing. It was awesome. Getting kinda late in the season now so pack your long johns.
And Hudson Valley is about an hour down the road if you are heading south on your way home. Sloop isn’t too far either. While its a madhouse this time of year, I suggest making a stop at Kaasterkill Falls across the river. Unless you plan on hiking during your trip in which case you can find plenty of empty places with spectacular natural features nearby.
Have not camped near Devil's Backbone, but have been there and it is very hiker friendly. Would suggest this. There is also a wine trail there, along with other breweries.
Thanks for that suggestion. Tentrr looks so cool on their website. I've got it bookmarked for some future outing now, but not this time of year .
It's really awesome. I like camping but hate campgrounds in general because you're usually surrounded by people. I presume most of us go camping to get away from people, no? It never made any sense to me, so usually when I went camping I went primitive/off-trail camping to avoid the crowds. Unfortunately it's not always easy finding a state park that allows primitive camping so for me Tentrr is worth the price. Not gonna lie, I hesitated making the suggestion at all but the cat was gonna get out of the bag eventually. It's only been around since 2016 or so and people are starting to book a lot of the dates now that they started listing them on Airbnb. I've only been to two sites so far, both were really great but obviously it depends on what level of seclusion you're looking for. The first place was a bit too close to the road for my tastes (loud motorcycles on beautiful days = not fun) but it had a babbling brook next to the campsite and a crystal clear swimming hole which more than made up for it. The second place was on a meadow on top of a hill over looking farmland/rolling hills. Anyway, I think you'll dig it regardless of where you choose!
