Do any Bend-area BAers do meetups? I'm moving there in November and would love to meet some local beer buddies. I'll be in walking distance of 10 Barrel/Sunriver/Boss Rambler/Ale Apothecary (and of course can drive to anywhere else).

No regular meetups, but there are communities of homebrewers, traders, and garden-variety beer people. I’d be happy to meet for a beer and hopefully put you in contact with some others.

    Rad, thanks guys.

I'm also a homebrewer so I'll probably be joining up with COHO soon after arriving.

My fiancée and I just moved out here. I’m not a homebrewer, but do enjoy beer and brew for a local establishment. I would be happy to meet up for a beer!

    When you get here:
    1) Do not tell anyone you just moved here. If anyone asks, you've been here for 20 years. Immediately thereafter, complain about the traffic at the north end of Hwy 97 and how the price at Juniper Swim and Fitness center keeps going up. Trader Joe's is a nightmare. And then start cursing people from California.
    2) Do not tell anyone you're from California.
    3) Own at least one piece of camo clothing (ball cap being most versatile and easy to integrate into your wardrobe).
    4) ...and of course...do not talk about Fight Club.

I feel like a local already!

(But I'll say in my own defense that I'm not actually a Californian! I've just been crashing here since I got back from living in Vietnam.)

Any of y'all been to/have an opinion on Boss Rambler?

Only 4 beers released at this point (5 if you count the FH collab brewed at Allegory), but they've all been solid. Matt, the Sales/Marketing/Head Honcho is usually running the bar and he's a super cool and friendly guy. A welcome addition to Galveston Ave and the Bend beer scene.

Co-worker went to Porter Brewing Co. in Redmond (OR), yesterday (north end of town out by PCC Scholosser). He gives it a big thumbs up. All cask ales. He gave their red high marks. I'd like to try their ESB myself. Other than Redhook, I find it difficult to find an ESB these days, although word was ESBs were making a comeback.

Holy Mountain regularly makes an ESB up here in Seattle as does Machine House.

Nice. I"ll keep an eye out for those if they get distributed this far south. Not sure if I'll be up to Seattle anytime soon.

aww rats...just read that Machine House is all cask ale. So not particularly likely to be seen in a bottle or can down here in Bend.

Well, I'm currently in a BIF where a Seattle participant sent out a bottle from Machine House. Also, if you come to Seattle, you'll want to hit Foggy Noggin in Bothell. They have a very limited bottle selection of English style brews available at their brewery.

I’ve seen Machine House bottles at MoC and Brew Shop. A bottle probably won’t give you the same experience as from the cask in Seattle, but it’s something.

Machine House beers don't seem too difficult to find around Portland, although that doesn't necessarily mean the ESB will be available in bottles.

I see a couple of the offerings bottled... I've seen probably a half dozen or so on the shelves around and about so there's at least a little bit of breadth.

It's almost time for the annual trip down to Bend and praying the snow holds off in the mountain passes just a little longer.

Thinking of heading to Sisters since I'm bringing a friend who loves Sisters Coffee. Anyone been to Three Creeks Brewing? Or have any recommendations where we can grab food and a drink? I see Hop & Brew has about 25 taps, but I've never been into Sisters before so I'm not familiar with anything.

Those are the 2 main spots that I know in Sisters. Neither are really worth a special trip to Sisters, but if you’re already there they’ll take care of you
