Side Project (2018)

I love passionate beer conversations! I bet @Sabtos and @coryking would have a great time talking beer someday!

 

@coryking If you have time (some time, at any point), I think everyone would benefit from you participating in the Beer Advocate "Beer Me Anything." I understand that you are busy, but if you ever have the chance, you would be welcomed warmly.

This would be a great opportunity for the community - those of us that can't make it to releases and talk to you in person - to ask you questions without feeling like we're being a needy beer nerd, bothering you, and taking up all your time in this thread.

Perhaps I'm mis-reading, but it seemed pretty clear to me that @coryking wasn't asking where you live, he was asking the basis for claims that he lies about any of their current/future plans. He was quoting where you previously said he was an unreliable source about their beer. It seems like once it came down to it, you backpedaled and claimed that the verbiage on the blog invited questions, rather than claiming he said things about their beer that ended up not being accurate.

Either way, I'm with Cory on this one. On the occasions where he's ever mentioned things that are coming down the pipe, it's all been a great and accurate preview of great things to come.

 

I backpedaled? By being the only person here to ask questions directly that others have asked repeatedly, generally and indirectly? Instead of gushing and otherwise coming up blank? I simply stated, in greater detail, what I have always stated, and it was fairly in depth. It's not that difficult to grasp, but if you come at it with preconceived notions and a defensive orientation, then of course you will only see things the way you choose to.

He said I said he lied. That's simply not true, but now that accusation lives on into your misinformed comment, and who knows how many others' perceptions. I may have over-exaggerated the effects of his over-exaggeration, and given the impression that everything he's ever said has been inaccurate or misleading, but the spirit of the criticism remains the same and I stand by it, especially having taken the opportunity to elaborate and specify, as done above.

As such, his answers to my questions cleared things up far more than any rumor-centric discussion ever has on here, and all those past discussions were rooted directly from his past statements. Does he make misleading or vague descriptions just to generic buzz and stimulate uninformed discourse among beer geek circles? Each individual can be the judge of that at this point. Either way, he seems willing enough to answer questions when asked directly, but that just needs to happen more readily after an SP post or release if and when questions arise. That is, if SP wants things to be clearer right up front.

It also reads one way for me, but apparently you have a different dictionary.

You might take issue with blunt talk, but I take issue with inaccuracy. Even moreso when one inaccurately applies definitions to words I use in print. It's right there, you even quoted it. Reputable may not have been the best choice of word, but it in no way means lie, and again, I have elaborated upon my sentiment since.

 

Words have meaning.

 

I have no dog in this fight because I could honestly care less. And I would honestly rather spend time at the UCBC Grove location than make the trip to Side Project. Now one of these profiles is not like the other, and I'm betting that the one with <100 posts is: A) employed by Side Project, B) has to justify his purchases by defending the brewery/brewer to the death because he has over spent on any/all of the SP releases, C) a secondary account created by the brewer, D) a troll of the highest order, E) naive, or F) a combination of any of the previous options.

 

Or G) None of the above since neither have anywhere close to 100 posts

Saying "I can't think of a time when someone said Cory said something and it turned out to be accurate," seems pretty direct and accusatory to me, though I'm apparently some sort of misinformed commenter.

It's the internet and things are easily misunderstood, so what did you mean by this comment, beyond that Cory was saying one thing and something else was true? I frankly can't suss it out.

I've addressed all of this. Everything I have said since that statement, as I have already repeated to you once already, has served to elaborate and shed light on my position. I'm not sure why you're choosing to make this thread about me, but that's simply juvenile. If you want to suss anything out with me that you aren't comprehending, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, I will simply end up quoting every post I have already made, back to you.

I'm going to answer a couple of quick questions and then lets get this thread back on topic.

- No one from Side Project is posting under a different name.

- I only have this account, so Drumkids theories on those two things are incorrect.

- I see that some of you are still angry/disappointed with me because I didn't answer Punchdown questions? I/Side Project was never, ever emailed any questions about the Punchdown process. You could have made a comment at the bottom of the Punchdown post on our blog or shot us an email - then I would have known that there were questions to answer! BeerAdvocate is not the center of the beer universe, so you cannot be upset with me for not answering questions that I didnt know existed!!!!!! I havent checked RateBeer in at least a year, god, I hope that people arent over there saying "Honestly, Cory isn't even a reputable source, especially verbally." or "I can't think of a time when someone said Cory said something and it turned out to be accurate..." If you are going to personally attack my character online, I am going to defend that relentlessly.

- Guys and gals, I love being a direct contact for our brewery, so if you honestly have questions, please email us! As you can see, I answer direct questions, its just that I can't keep up with all of the social media outlets, websites and forums, its not possible. I am not ignoring you.

Okay cool story bro. Next time you say something vague or intentionally misleading regarding a release either at SP or for a collab elsewhere, regarding allotment quantities or access to a special event, or regarding beer ingredients and the process to make a specific beer, I'll call it out directly and tag you on every single social media account you have, and also email and call the brewery, k?

In the meantime, I had no hard feelings but can understand how you can perceive it that way and feel as passionately as you do. The fact that you want to keep dragging out the same exact comments from one single person and defend yourself even though you had already sufficiently done so is frankly weird though at this point. No one made any additional accusations, and you didn't really address anything new here.

That said, people did indeed ask questions directly to your social media accounts on all of the above discussed questions, including Punchdown. Multiple people. I don't have social media accounts but I did check them since they are public to see if you would ever answer. You or your team tend not to answer questions on there very often. But I have to admit, while admirable, you're one of the few businesses of any kind out there, (but especially among breweries), telling people to directly contact you via email anymore. It's cool you do that though.

Just my view of things...I'm not afraid to criticize people directly, including and especially things I actually enjoy more than others. Drinking this now and not fucking around, cheers!

 

Awesome! BA just became source for new release information. Never thought the actual title of this thread was ever be relevant again.
