I was there Sept 29th so would've been canned in that week prior most likely

I just returned from Vermont last week and bought Heady straight from the source. It was awesome as always. It's a very hoppy, bitter IPA, and I'm honestly wondering if it's IPA fatigue from New England style IPA's. They're much different. As far as treehouse, my friend from work was up there about a month ago, and all the of them did not taste as great as they once did from me. I'm not sure if quality is worse since they're expansion, or if I'm over the NEIPA style (which I think may be the case). I loved trillium back in the day, but don't think I've had any in over a year.

Heady Topper? They don't date it, I just picked up directly from the Alchemist last week.

Did you follow the instructions on the can of Heady?

I just called my wife and asked her to look at the can my neighbor gave me earlier this week. Indeed you are correct (which I'm sure you already know)

I have bought from MBC myself and never had a problem best person Ive found is a seller beercats they are reasonable and have the mainstays of a few good breweries and post the dates in the auction titles, although they haven't had anything up the last few days

Oh, I know. I was just commenting that these would likely not fall under the "reputable seller" category.

Haha just figured I'd weigh in since I was just at the source! And the new Holey Moley they made is Danky and Hoppy as anything, so good.

I have had the Trillium and it was fantastic each time, so zero issues for me on this one only.

Do you know how they were stored before you got them? If they were shipped all over the place and then shipped to you it is very possible they got ruined in shipping??? Just an idea

Took me a while to figure out you were saying the cans were dated, I thought you were saying the beer was dated (like old fashioned, a has been).

    The internet is hard.

I will see if the ones I have are those dates, I got some around that time as well as the most recent release.
In the future, these are all fairly easy to trade for. May be a better chance at insuring they were stored and handled properly.

OP, have you tried contacting the seller and asking for a potential refund as you are not completely satisfied? Sorry not a fan of reselling. Caveat emptor then I guess.

People are jerks for no reason sometimes...you are lucky that you didn't post this in the Tree House thread, that one flies off the handle a lot. (jk, Tree house thread is awesome, everyone who posts on it is great, don't yell at me)

Can't say ive ever ever had a bad beer from Alchemist and or Trillium. Heady might just be the hardiest hoppy beer ever brewed, if it's kept cool it'll be the energizer bunny of beer. And I'm a fresh freak. I'd stop buying beers online not authorized by the brewery. These guys have a small footprint, and I'm sure they turn red when they see these complaints, it's not the beer it's the guy selling it. IMO anyway. Trade don't buy online.

They are for $60/4 pk. No thanks, that's just stupid, unless you live in AZ and you don't trade and your a itchy ticker.

I've seen them on sale in NY at $15 a can when my son was at Ft Drum. At that time I'd hop over, (5 hr drive) to Waterbury and buy 3-4 cases. It's not rare, it's released every week, but the footprint is still very small. So yea, prices are high, but I'd assume a local could make a nice PT job out of shipping beers. But the prices are just stupid.

Good part time job for me when I retire if I develop the patience to wait in line to sell it!!

I understand the stated relationship between Julius and Alter Ego. I find them to be significantly different beers, the primary difference being the overt bitterness of Alter Ego which is largely absent in Julius.

Heady is also a bitter beer, particularly on the back palate.

A month or even 6 weeks on any of these beers is going to be barely noticeable to most folks.

Strangely, I find Aaalterrr Ego to be a far better beer than either Alter Ego or Doppelganger, but Julius is better than either one of them in my book.

    Taste is subjective strikes again.

Where else could you easily 4x your investment? One of these guys is going to get smart and just put it out there for $30-35 plus shipping and just undercut the really greedy bastards. I flinch going to Resident Culture at $18/ 4 pk. It's steep, but it's great stuff.
