don't think WC IPAs are DEAD, but there isn't "HYPE" around them like their is HAZE. I still love me a good WC IPA, just not too many Breweries doing can releases of WC IPAs, and most HAZEbros like myself wouldn't buy a beer if it wasn't in 16oz can format, How else am I suppose to take super duper epic IG shot!?:stuck_out_tongue:

The West Coast IPA is not dead in Solana Beach, Ocean Beach, Carlsbad, Bressi Ranch, or San Clemente.

No they aren't aren't, but I wish the "new england" style was. I'd like to see more new offerings that I can actually see through

Not only are they NOT dead, WC IPAs are better than ever these days and most times are less than half the price of all these inferior hazies out there.

The same thing for Brut happened to me with Hazy’s - my first two were really good (one by Green Cheek, the other by Beachwood), but since then I’ve only had sub par ones.

And just like that, an ad in BeerPaperLA shuts Raul up. I’m also drinking a very nice Pale from Freemont - Field to Ferment: Centenial

Yeah, Beachwood would be at the top on the list for WC ipa's

Gonna say that ASB has some great tasting WCIPAs. Had a couple from cellarmaker recently too that I really enjoyed.

If you're in LA.. HIghland Park, Mumford, and State Brewing all just released cans of WCIPA's. They still have plenty in their refrigerators for sale too

They're not dead, but they're not nearly as ubiquitous as they were just a year or so ago. Hazies have replaced them in that regard.

The part that irks me (not really being a fan of hazies, though yes, I do drink them) is the thought that world-class IPA brewers are using their limited resources to now focus on this style vs. WCIPAs when their focus in the IPA realm before hazies was almost exclusively on WCIPAs.

TL;DR - WCIPAs are no longer ubiquitous but hazies now are and it sucks for those of us who liked stumbling into world-class WCIPAs without even trying.

Yes, WC IPA is dead as evidenced by the fact Noble released a Hazy IPA and had 7 WC IPAs on draft at the same time.

I've been saying it's getting harder to get fresh quality WC IPAs, particularly since many of the breweries that used to make good WC style have dropped in quality.

For quality WC goodness, I think Almagamator/Citraholic is always reliable, Three Weavers Knotty is damn tasty on tap, El Segundo always has very a rock solid WC game (Power Showers was an awesome collab), and Noble Ale Works should have plenty WC on tap, even if they had a hazy can release. Green Cheek always has some good WC stuff too, though it's not their forte. Oh, also Highland Park always puts out very good WC IPAs.

Lagunitas Born Yesterday is going around, and although it is a pale, it is really delicious, crisp, dank and bright.

Born Yesterday is so good for a pale. Really happy when I start to see it at bottle shops

The Fremont series Field to Ferment is some outrageous fresh hop CLEAR pale. I've had 6 pack of each Simcoe and Centennial.

It's not a Pale Ale, I crack up at their oft misleading product descriptors, it's a 7.2 % ABV IPA.

    Cheers,
