Looks like you were about double on your estimate. Bottling was only 16 days away!

I would recommend emailing him now that he asked for it

Side Project's most expensive bottle so far is $60 for O.W.K.
Toppling Goliath had 5 different bottles that were more expensive at once.

MD is $100 for 2 bombers or a 4pk 12oz bottles and isn’t even in the same room as CSV let alone the same building.

you could buy 4 CSV 750s for $100 compared to 2 MD bombers and CSV is the better beer. also, TG is expensive.

The 'Support Your Local Brewery' sticker is pretty cloying icing on the cake in this context.

I'm loathe to defend TG, but you're comparing vintage to brand new release.
CSV is actually one of the few beers I actually dislike by them, but it's "not" SP so it doesn't count. Really don't get the high regard some have for CSV tbh...you have to drink that super fresh.

it’s Shared by SP so it’s basically the same thing, and they age just fine if properly stored.

Side Project makes vintage beers available on-site from time to time and they are never remotely close to those TG prices. When they had various vintage Derivations available during their anniversary week last year they were the same price as new releases.

Right, but I still never understood why use the different label and "brewery" name...because it's not up to the same standard as regular SP stouts, or to lessen interest in it...?

Anyway, had a Colombian only a few months after release, refrigerated the whole time. While still drinkable, the coffee got really unusually funky. Not sour funky, just weird. I guess I've had other CSVs I've enjoyed, but that one stands out to me. However, none of the CSVs really made the kind of impression on me that had me putting it over even my preferred local coffee stouts, and especially not putting MD to shame. But MD is also not just a coffee beer.

What are the prices of their rare vintage bottles whenever they release them? That's cool and all if they do things like Tete, Derivation, FdF and others at base price, but if so, they'd be in the slim minority for almost any brewery that has in-demand vintage bottles available on-site from time to time. TG is hardly alone on that, but kudos to SP. I personally haven't seen any actual prices on vintage in-house SP.

They have a blog post explaining the concept of Shared. There are basically two purposes for it as far as I can tell. First, Side Project is intended as an all-barrel aged brand, so Shared is a branding outlet for non-barrel aged beers. Second, it's meant to be an outlet for the assistant brewers' own recipes and such, and by not branding those as Side Project beers, Cory avoids taking ownership of them. The idea as he explained it is that if and when they decide to leave Side Project and start their own breweries, they can take their beers with them.

They're usually either original on-site price or $5-$10 more. Vintage Derivations have been $60 the last few times they've had them, normally $50 on-site on initial release. Draft pours are comparable--I think D2 pours were $12 for 5 oz. when they had it on during last year's cellar anniversary.

because shared is non-BA’d (with the exception of BACSV) and some of the beers are other brewers recipes, however, i would bet money CSV is all CK.

Come on now, man.... You're being overly shit lordery on these posts now.

Shared was created as a collaborative brewery that shares profits with the employees. Side Project is all Cory King and he wanted to keep it that way. I didn't understand it at first either and thought it was a bit silly, but after actually reading about why he created a new brewery it made perfect sense.

How is that, over everything else posted here, overly "shit lordery?"

...honestly, all of the aggressive pushback, as well as disdain towards legitimate questions in this thread, by users and even the brewery/owner himself, really only makes me feel like digging in.

I'm trying my best not to, but I'm actually only more confused now, and it actually seems even weirder with these explanations. And I just dug into the blog post for the first time.

So, there's a brewer from Goose Island, and a brewer from Perennial, and they want to start their own brewery, but I'll start this Side-Side Project and they can work there instead. I never actually read or realized that before. I don't get it, and probably won't.

I know a lot of brewers that have left many breweries here in Ohio and took their recipes with them with no ill will between either their new or old employers, as well as no ill will in situations where an entirely new brewery was opened after departing a renowned brewery. No one needed to create a separate entity to allow them to do that. But hey that's cool, and you can find it admirable if you want that's fine with me. As long as the "help them find their place in this industry" is a lot less...restrictive...than TG goes about that, cool.

I find it especially weird they thought the public needed to know about any of this, but can't be trusted to be told, for example, that grape must or grape juice (non-stabilized) is used to make Punchdown. Until now, that is. Hooray for BA!

Anyway, sorry again for asking questions, and not being a glowing, incessant gusher.

I'm totally fine with having an opinion but after someone has answered you and addressed the issues you had, it's time to move on. That's the point I'm making is all. You really seem to have a hatred of all things Cory King aside from liking his beer. That's how you are coming across.
