What is actually in Joliet, though? MyGrain and Elder? Why Joliet? No reason to go to Joliet, IMO. I live 20 minutes from there, and have no reason to go there. :joy:

Just go to Chicken-N-Spice or Merichka's for the Po’Boy and call it a day.

Joliet is supposed to be beautiful this time of year. Bring a nice camera.

If you didn't like your trip to Darien, I would avoid Joliet.

If you went to Darien from Indiana you went to far. Just stop at Imperial Oak in Willow Springs and call it a day (or night).

I had to click on this thread...Joliet??? Ok...

Generally, no. However, it appears (according to their website updated today) that Chicago Street pub still has BCBS Reserve '17 on tap for $7.50 for a 10 oz pour. Soooo maybe in this instance...

I might go to Darien this weekend just because the next closest place I know of that sells good Lithuanian food is in Michigan. Just asked this question because I saw a sign when out to buy beer yesterday that said Joliet 15 miles

Old Vilnius in Darien is a great Lithuanian place, and their homemade kvass is pretty authentic. Skeleton Key Brewery is right around the corner. Iron & Glass in Romeoville is solid beer destination if you're in the area.

Whats with everyone knocking Darien this week... sheesh

Imperial Oak is legit though. Day of Darkness is this Saturday too so they should have some good stuff on tap

Yes; I would say so. I got there back in August. Elder was unpretentiously nice. It had a food truck outside (BabyQ barbecue), which had quite good foodstuffs cheap so I did not have to stuff myself on popcorn.
MyGrain is adjacent to the Metra & Amtrak train stations.
Which correlates to how to get there without driving: There are two Metra train routes to Joliet on a weekday afternoon, but only one route back to Chicago - and the last train is @ 9:30 pm. Train fare is $8.25. The four PM trains on the Metra Heritage line can also get you to Imperial Oak and Pollyanna (Lemont).

I went to Joliet the other day. It was not worthwhile.
