Brewing up a quick extract saison. Using a LOT of Loral
    1. To see if actually adds any flavor in large amounts
    2. To use it up
Also throwing in a bit of Wai-iti just cause I have it and haven't thought of anything better to do with it

First dry hops in. Consistently amazed at how quickly these beers turn around.

Thinking strongly about a SMaSH pale ale with Pils and Saaz and Belgian yeast.

Attempting to make a Hazelnut extract using toasted and coarsely crushed hazelnuts soaking in white rum. Will eventually strain and freeze, and then remove any fat that comes to the surface.
ETA: I tasted a hazelnut before toasting and it tasted more or less like a peanut. Toasting really brought out the flavor I normally think of as hazelnut.

Made a last minute decision to brew tomorrow. So I picked up ingredients to make a Schwarzbier, had that one on my brew list for a while now. No time for a starter, so going with S-189. First time using it. Cheers!

I prefer S-189 over 34/70. Used it in a schwarzbier that turned out great.

Brewed a pale ale yesterday with some 2018 Idaho 7 Pellets and Hash (holy shit is the hash potent), Citra, and Motueka. Weyermann Pale, Carafoam, Carahell, 1318. Gonna take a few quarts out and Krausen a Spelt Ale with Cashmere and Simcoe tomorrow.

Brewed an IPA today with Enigma, Ella, Ekuanot. Weyermann Pale, some local malt called Solstice, Carahell, smidge of caraaroma. Blend of S04 and 34/70.

Kolsch style ale tomorrow with The Yeast Bay’s Midwestern Ale. Supposedly it’s Bell’s yeast, a mutation of 001 I think. Weyermann Cologne/Barke Pils blend. Overpitch and ferment it cold hopefully, we’ll see.

Wife’s out of town and nights are cold so hopefully a few attempts at some spontaneous ferments this weekend too.

Bottling a gluten free brown ale while also giving my pump a good pbw soak and clean.

Tomorrow, I'll be brewing up a GF IPA with Chinook & Simcoe. Should have a nice bite for the cooler weather.

Bit of a fun/dumb experiment today. Calling it Juicyweizenbomb. Trying to make something that combines banana, and pineapple just through yeast and hops.

    Blend of 3068/Sacch Trois
    Fermented around 70 ambient
    German Pale/White Wheat/Carahell
Lots of El Dorado in WP

Might split the batch with one getting dry hopped again with El Dorado and the other getting coconut and maybe a little vanilla... or I might not split it. Can’t decide.

Got a starter going of some Sigmund Voss that I think I’m going to combine with the Yeast bay’s Lacto Brevis strain on a Berliner. ferment it somewhere between 80 and 90 and see if I can get just as sour a Berliner as quickly as If I kettle soured it.

Accidentally partigyled an English Barleywine today with another brewer...we were unsure of volumes due to his wanting to do a 2 hour boil and not having a recipe sheet or firm plan...so...fermented his first runnings with my M-36 cake from last week's Ordinary Bitter...2nd runnings had to go into another kettle (also 2 hour boil) and resulted in 2.5 gal.of a 1.065 IPA? with no bittering hops but a metric shit ton of late CTZ and 1 oz of Simcoe whirlpool. Kind of a fly by the seat of our pants experience, but probably good to just wing it every once in awhile...maybe.
Fwiw, his Barleywine took off in 20 min

Brewing up #1 of 3 in a series of clone single hop NEIPA’s.

    70% Golden Promise
    20% Flaked Oats(Quaker 1-minute)
    10% Flaked Wheat
    Imperial Juice (1318)

    #1 Vic Secret, #2 Mosaic, #3 Galaxy
Shooting for middle of the road on whirlpool, dry hop, bittering, abv, mash and ferment temps. Trying to see which hop I like the best between the three.

Bottling Christmas ale today. Tried out a bit of the tincture in my coffee today, didn't have the kick I was hoping for, and cardamom was a bit too dominate, so goosing the priming solution with a bit more cinnamon and ginger.
