What beer are you drinking now? #2198

Cold October day, this is what my palate needs.

 

I agree, I gave it a 4.27. Awesome mouthfeel.

 

Checking out Whammy from SingleCut...

Confusingly enough, the can says IIPA but their website says IPA, and successive instagram posts flip-flop between IPA and IIPA, as well - ah, how the style lines blur - even the brewers don't know...

Anyways, this 7.7% abv beer has tropical fruit aromas with a mild dankness... The flavors bring a tropical surge suggestive of maybe mango and/or papaya, but then a more orchard-like, stone fruit element asserts itself, bringing peach, apricot, and lime to the fore... Sweetness settles down after the initial sip, and that mild bitter dank character finishes across the palate... Medium-full bodied, with something of a fleshy feel...

Really diggin' it.... 9/26/18 canning...

Not sure of the song referenced by the beer name, thinking the title is just a nod to the whammy bar; meantimes, checking out Soulfly's latest album, Ritual...

I've got all of their albums except the three prior to this...

This seems like a really solid release...

IPA ASAP

 

On a Manassas brewery tour - at least the ones we have not previously visited. Starting at Sinistral. Had a flight of all their beers, chose a couple to share, including these:


Their Little Grey IPA was a decent American Pale. The Magic Bar Milk Stout does a nice job of packing a wallop in the nose but staying fairly true to a lower-ABV milk stout in the taste.

Actually, the brewer had a few beers with extra ingredients where the additional ingredients deftly added a little to the beer without taking it over. Their beers overall were in the decent range - the pictured milk stout and their American Light Lager (with lime and sea salt) stood out to me.

 

Home now, making the magic happen, with a Jai Alai to help steady my old shaky hand...

Nice juicy IPA, zero bitterness. Smooth, fluffy mouthfeel, goes down way too easy. Missing a bit of something on the end that would make this great. Needs a touch more hop bite if you ask me. Overall pretty good though!

 

Settling in to watch some Florida/Georgia. Cheers!

 

Yum! There were any beer that tasted like a vanilla cookie this would be it.

Pipeworks Oktoberfest

 

Just tapped a quarter keg of Stoudts October Fest. Filled my 1 Ltr glass stein. Good foam, nice amber color, aaahhh!!!.
Nice balance slightly on the malt side. Crisp October day.....perfect! Go Penn State!

For the pork....sort of. I just have to make sure it tastes ok before I add it....
