I did not call in any favors ... this round. Last round, however, I did - so I wouldn't rule it out for future BIFs.

I'd rather not stir up drama here, and I'm not going to explain any more about this - but I'm going to rescind my sponsorship offer. @The-Adjunct-Hippie can make his own case, or @Dragginballs76 can choose to sponsor him if he would care to.

Did we decide on where we should post the bottles opened during Saturday’s share? @beertunes would you object to us posting the spoils on here?

Sure, do it here. Probably not worth a thread of its own . Maybe some highlights on WBAYDN too.

Yes, do it here so the Midwest NBS BIFers can see what we have to top when we get together.

Turns out that it was a ninja box from the Rookies BIF. @brutalfarce sent a nice box, along with a request to be the next NBS BIF. Hell, it worked for @FFFjunkie .

Back to the ninja boxes, and this one is from @FlintB . Totally delicious, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you sent this to me.

Pours a hazy light golden color. Has a slight lemon color to it. The head is white, 1 finger, quite frothy and has great retention. Nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is got a nice hop aroma. A bit of lemon, to it. A bit of pineapple. Grapefruit.
Taste - The hops are the key here. Lighter. A bit of lemon, pineapple, grapefruit.
The body is creamy, and does have a nice finish that lingers in my throat.
    Tasty and delicious IPA.

If even half of the box I sent you survives until then - I think we'll be fine.

Another from the @FlintB box. I am totally amazed how each IPA can be so different, even though it's the same style. Damn good, and thanks again for anther great beer.

Pours a hazy darker golden color. 2 finger white frothy head. There's great retention to this beer, and some nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is slightly hoppy. Some grapefruit, and pine in the nose. Fairly mellow.
Taste - There's a nice pine hop up front. On the backside it changes over to a slightly sweet taste. The pine does linger though, and sticks in my throat.
The hops do stick and linger in my throat. Nice full body.
Another delicious IPA. Tasty, and the hops linger in my throat.

I would be so disappoints if I tried that and it didn't taste like shrimp.

But, a local favorite of mine, Cedar Dust, is named after a mountain bike trail, and contains no actual cedar. Yet, folks have sworn they can taste the cedar in the beer. So maybe the power of suggestion is at work here too. People are odd.

For me it's a good thing it doesn't taste like shrimp - I totally hate shrimp.

So, a question for the group. I saw mentioned (maybe here, maybe in a different BIF thread) the idea of a BIF Secret Santa. It wouldn't be a full-on BIF, but maybe if we got some of the regulars together, and maybe a few past participants, who skipped this round, would there be interest? If so, what parameters?

Definitely. If we could do a low-key edition of what the Locals do with 12 Days of Christmas, it would be fun. I'd suggest scaling it back (maybe just six days) and stipulating no crazy whale-slaying; the idea is fantastic. Just keep the entry bar a little lower - the Locals go hard, man. I can't hang with those guys - not even close.

Interesting idea, though I probably wouldn't do it personally. The reason for that is I just get so freaked out about sending something, or getting something, at that time of year because of the weather.

    Maybe I'm paranoid. I don't know.

I think I mentioned something about this. My initial thought was just a one box, large flat rate USPS box (well, at least on my end) of whatever you wanted to send. Its intent wasn't to crush a porch; just a thoughtful hit.

Yeah, that what I was thinking. Even a medium box. Just a couple-three brews. Most folks have so much going on, that a full, time and attention sucking BIF isn't realistic. I was thinking a time frame of Dec 26-Jan 10, after the shipping rush.
