Curious as to when people will start lining up this time, will it be two nights camping out on the streets? Also wondering how many people will comment this as the best BA coffee stout ever.

Civit coffee is pretty fucked up stuff. It's expensive because it requires keeping animals in cages to force feed them cherries before harvesting their shit.

There is ethical Kopi production though, right? Not all is as you describe.

Regardless, the first beer to use Geisha beans that have passed through a civet will command the longest line

Is it possible to forage these cherries off the ground around a coffee plantation in a place that has native civets? Sure. There is a cage-free certification, but doesn't mean it's going to show up in a Modern Times stout anytime soon; the use of the animal it the production itself is questionable to a lot of people.

It does raise other questions for me, though; Is it likely that you can guarantee what's in the bag you're buying? Does an expanding market for ethical civet coffee lead to higher production of caged-produced civet coffee a la knock-off designer handbags? It just feels gross and not worth it considering how easy it is to get killer single origin or geisha whatever from very reputable farmers/roasters/shops these days.

What barrel did they use to only get a 120 bottle yield? A barrel for ants?

Completely agree and as someone who makes a cup every morning on a Kalita Wave, I have zero interest in Kopi when I have access to the latest Rwandan from Portola or Ethiopian from Coava.

I read something recently that found the beans that didn't pass through the civet were actually preferable to those that did. It's a gimmick no doubt.

Lol didn't think about that. That's just above five 5 gallon barrels. Backyard homebrew.

I’m gonna assume they made more bottles just like their last release. They’re just trying to push their dumbass hype again via exclusivity.

Mistobox. They recently added the option to select specific roasters and beans so Coava and Heart are now in the rotation.

Doesn't look too good for what, people who want to flip a bottle to pay their rent? He says several times it's a great coffee stout.

Hahaha, I really like his sign-off.

"So is this worth the $700 that it will inevitably sell for? I don’t have your w-2, what am I supposed to say. For that secondary price you can blame insecure gatekeeping dipshits who thrive on exclusivity by way of consumption. When you have a “culture” obsessed with excising every last dime to respond to equally rapacious/predatory peers, then hey enjoy your beer scene."
