Ok. Let’s give the whole whiskey barrel aged pumpkin beer another shot. Ahhh, that’s much better!

Another phenomenal NEIPA by Frau Gruber, I absolutely love the combination of Chinook and Enigma here, giving this quite a unique and distinct flavor profile dominated by dry white grape, gooseberry, white peach and grapefruit, with a certain grassy dankness and light peppery notes. Enigma is pretty much the Aussie Nelson Sauvin, isn't it? I can totally dig it.

Thanks! A lot of factors went into Glass of the Day's temporarily permanent hibernation. Someday perhaps, if the choas ever ends and the dust settles. Until then, Old Blue will at least keep making guest appearances. Cheers!

I better knock out this DIPA before it turns on me - Enjoy By 10.31.18:

When we had the house, I would set up all 40 +/- Halloween Village pieces and geek out on the combined cacophony...in downsized world I pulled 3 out of storage for the apt. - the Fortune Teller’s House, the Critter’s Pelts & Felts/Taxidermy, and the Mr. Bones takes Fido for a Walk - Happy Halloween!

I had this on tap a few weeks ago and had like 3 of them in a row, so when I saw a 4-pack with 2 weeks on it...slam dunk. And, shit, this is an amazing ipa. Color, feel, taste. Great job here by Sloop. Just an unbelievable amount of flavor for a 6.5% ipa. Happy Halloween everyone!

I picked up a couple bottles of this without realizing I'd never had the base beer - only the BBA variant. Curious. In the process of reviewing now.

This is a perfectly enjoyable IPA, but just a little disappointing to me, coming from Frau Gruber. The flavor profile just seems kinda muddled and lacking a distinct kick to it. Oh well, they can't all be amazing, I guess.

Full disclosure: it's entirely possible I've had a taster of this at the brewery and neglected to check it in.

I like it! It's a bit thin, especially for the ABV. For most of the sip, it doesn't really recall the iconic dessert (German's Chocolate Cake; the " 's " is part of the name, as the cake is actually quite American - I love the history behind Baker's and German's chocolate, and the etymology). The back third, though, it really does remind me of it, for a brief moment.

Mostly, though, it's just a very tasty beer, barely eking over a 4 rating for me - and that's partly due to the outstanding appearance and aroma.
