My goals have been somewhat vague but I have attempted and sometimes met them..Wanted to try CBS, Abraxas, Pliny The Elder..Did it, overhyped which caused me to not like them as much as I hoped. Drink 2000 different beers. Did it and was happy with my accomplishment. Hit 2500 different and still happy !. Overall, the achievements of hitting more and more different beers was the best, drinking overhyped beers was not!!

My ongoing goal is to buy less overpriced, disappointing beers. I think I improved this year from last and I think I'll do better next year too.

I was definitely hoping to cut down the cellar but, unlike @cavedave, I managed to increase it by about 50 bottles. Crap! As soon as I make some progress, something pops up at a local shop or another great release appears before me. This is a bad time of year with all of the great stout releases...I will try to be strong!

Haha, ditto to that! I think I came to that frame of mind in March, and I did pretty good from there on out. I still wound up taking some chances along the way, but was a lot more discriminating about it.

There's something about those two week-old beers hitting the shelves that's sooooo tempting, you know . But after way too many (expensive) rounds of "Lucy with the football" I wised up, finally.

My goal was to get to 1,000 written reviews, which was accomplished. For 2019, my goal is to try to slow down, be less of a ticker and enjoy those I drink and spend time with more.

Beers from 50 states + DC: check.
    Beers of 104 styles: check.
    Zwanze 2018: check.

That's it for me. Peace out!

My downfall this year was experimenting with sours. Now I just buy a cheap single of gose or berliner weisser from time to time, but no more expensive guesses on fancier sours. My palate and wallet have had enough.

One of my goals was cut down on the size of my cellar, which was out of hand due to buying too many of my favorites whether or not I needed them. Problem solved, I stepped up my drinking since that was easier than controlling my buying habits.

Another goal was to finish my quest of reviewing a beer from all 104 styles. I made progress but was stalled at 102 out of 104 (missing Happoshu and Sahti) when a few months ago BA reworked the styles. I'm now at 108 of 111 (missing Happoshu, Sahti, and American Brett), and hope to knock off one more this year - but they're threatening to add more soon.

Another goal was to have a KBBS. Working on that, could still happen. Just waiting for TG to send me a sample bottle. Or case.

My goal this year was to avoid any beer with coffee in it. Sorry, just not my thing. I was doing great until a few weeks ago when my friend brought a 4-pack of a Double Coffee Stout to my house and left it behind. Decided to try one and ended up drain pouring it. One of only two drain pours for me in 2018. I've had a few stouts where with the coffee is really well integrated into the beer and have really enjoyed them; Speedway Stout and Peche Mortel come to mind. But I hate when it tastes like I'm just drinking straight coffee.

I had a few goals. One was to reduce my cellar. It's down from about 75 to less than 20. Traded some, gave some away, shared some and enjoyed most on my own. Another goal was to buy more local, fresh stuff. I think I did that. Another goal was to drink only great beer, for the most part, check.

    1. First off, it's a bit late in the year to be setting goals for 2018 not ?
    2. Prior to this thread I had no goals. I just drink beer that I try to enjoy. Has been working pretty well.
    3. Now I have a goal for 2019 to not hoard as many of those special beers but I will still probably save some
    4. Tonight I am trying to get a jump-start on next year by having a Ballast Point High Westified Victory At Sea. Leaves me w one to go !
    5. Enjoy the ride !

My only goal for 2018 was to drink good beer and gave a good time. I’ve had the chance to drink plenty of outstanding beer and I still have my U.S trip to go, so I’m well ahead of the curve! My goalfor 2019? Drink good beer and have a good time. I think I’ll succeed...

I’m going to see if there is any beer to be found from West Virginia in Richmond. If I find anything, I’ll get you one!

Thanks, man! That's very nice of you. However, as far as I know, there are no WV breweries that distribute outside the state. This may have changed since the last time I checked though. There was a county somewhere in MD that got some limited amount but that's just a rumor I heard. Have fun in Richmond! So much good beer down there.

I have never had any beer goals and I've had an amazing life with beer. I suppose, if pressed, and in another time, my annual goal was to sell as much good beer possible to as many people as possible. I think I achieved that. So I'm happy.

My goal is always to try beers with an open mind and hopefully enjoy them. That's irregardless of price, reputation, rarity, style, etc.

    My goals for 2018 were:
    1. Finish all of the states (missing AR and SD) - have a beer from AR now, just need to review.
    2. Rate/Review a beer from 1500 breweries - need to get 29 more before year end.
