For the record, I have no idea why anyone would complain about it. It's objectively amazing to have that on the shelf.

I remember being driven insane in 2015 that I couldn't find a bottle of Rare in Chicago, but it was a shelf turd other places across the country.

I don't get why distributers/brewers don't have this stuff figured out better. I understand having extra BCBS in Illinois but why not send less to Texas/NY/CA/FL and more to WI and other states where they don't have enough to last an hour. Also, I've visited liquor stores in Illinois, while I know BCBS can be found after black friday it's definitely not as easy to find as folks who live there claim it is (in my experience).

Same thing applies to Abraxas. Shelves full of it in some states but in WI it sells out in minutes. This seems likes poor business practice.

There were still cases of regular stacked in every Binnys through Xmas last year, IIRC. I regularly stop at 3 of them. Every one had cases of regular well after Black Friday.

The trick for BCBS is that sometimes you have to wait for the hype to die down, first. Some places won't have it on the shelves that first week, and by the time they do, people have moved on or have gotten their allocation, so they no longer care. I was buying BCBS '17 from WF randomly until early this year.

Quantities received are supposed to be tied to Goose product moved. It would reason to stand that being a local brand, GI is going to move better in Chicagoland thus those stores would get a bigger allocation of BCBS, perhaps more than they can get rid of in a year.

Also... they get multiple drops of it. I believe regular was sold out at all Binny's around me for about a week after BF. Then another massive drop came in, and for the next 6-8 weeks there was a stack of 5-7 cases sitting around at each store, slowly being chipped away at by people.

Yeah, I didn't want to mention the second drop because every one someone tells me it's a myth, and I didn't feel like hearing that today.

Honestly, it sounds like you may have not been around here (meaning Chicagoland) last year. What you're describing seems familiar from 2016 and prior. Last year, it was everywhere for at least a few months.

Glad to know my wife can no longer judge me...she waited in line and hour and a half for an Aldi wine calendar. Looks like Lincoln Park is a go for me.

Here at our home with two small children, we really value our booze.

I actually think in 2016 it was around for quite awhile as well. I remember Regular and Barleywine being available at Binny's Lakeview into the new year. But, that was due to a 2nd drop in mid to late December (even variants got a 2nd drop that year!), so there may have been a couple weeks of a dry spell before that.

Don’t encourage them to clog 90/94 at 55mph in the left lane.

Can you blame them though? Got one of those $250 speeding tickets for going 10 over driving to the twin cities about 9 years ago. Was about a 100 miles from St. Paul when the asshat state trooper hiding in the trees between the lanes caught me passing a truck.

They do need to get the f out of the left lane though.

What drives me insane when driving in Illinois is that most FIBs drive 70-75mph regardless of the speed limit. When the speed limit is 45 everyone is driving stupid fast and I'm petrified of getting a ticket for going 20+ over in a work zone despite going slower than everyone else, and when the speed limit is 70 everyone is driving too damn slow and in my way.

We'll stay out of your left lane if y'all stop towing boats in WI. Fair?

I don't know about that last part. People are pretty routinely hitting 85 in a 65 when I go to work. I think we just have the need. The need for speed.
