Same. Half Acre BA stuff is good but it’s not on the same level as Rev and Goose.

Isn't Benthic really their only BA stout? Maybe they've had a couple more at the last couple Big North parties that I've missed though.

I thought last year's Benthic was better than any of Revolution's stuff (except VSOJ, which I just had this year) and some of the BCBS lineup as well. I hope this year's lives up to that as well.

I'll resist the urge to compare breweries and only say this: I think Benthic and Orin are both very good to excellent.

Never been to a Benthic release. I'm almost certain bottles aren't sold from there, but did Balmoral have Benthic on tap last year?

This. I know the bottle release is at Lincoln and bundle pickup is at balmoral. But can anyone confirm if both locations will have benthic on draft....not just Lincoln? Thanks

Orin is one of the best shelf turds out there; so good. And Benthic fucking rules.

It's going to be sweet on the 14th when I get selected for Mehndi and score a Benthic presale and go round them up on the same trip up.

But yeah, neither of those things are going to happen.

Balmoral will. I had it the week before Christmas last year at that location on draft.

Orin and Big Hugs are fine, but Benthic is on a completely different level.

    The variants sound sumptuous

I think it's really more of a preference thing with BA beers. I personally like a BA beer to focus on the barrel (while remaining balanced), so I prefer the Rev BA beers to HA's stuff (which often trends too sweet and too base beer/additive heavy for my taste). They're still really, really good beers, but I'm firmly in the draft camp on this one, too, especially with the format.

Can we get back on topic and talk about how nice Wave is?

I love when they use Vienna malt in their IPAs. Beer hates astronauts fans should check this out. Way different hop profile, but similar feel to it.

Ehhh. Hard disagree. With the exception of a couple Benthic and Orin are just as good.

    No such thing
Are you trying to say my preference isn't fact?:stuck_out_tongue:
I'd pick Benthic over most BCBS variants and most Rev BA beers. With that being said, I'm a sucker for big, sweet, coconut-forward stouts, so picking Benthic over, say, BCBCS is basically cheating.

I don't think Benthic is particularly complex, but as a bazooka of coconut and coffee, it does its job.

I think the big thing that Rev and BCBS have going for them is the breadth of their lineups. They offer a lot of variety, whereas Half Acre has 3 package BA beers (non-wild). I'm not into Big Hugs that much, and Orin is nice for a style that isn't right up my alley, but Benthic is fantastic.

Do you mean WAND? I had it over the weekend and thought it was good, but I preferred Now & Then to it.

I hate sweet beers and hold balance and depth over all, so you can see why I hold that opinion. More for you, my man. (Though I will try to catch it on draft somewhere, since I do enjoy Benthic for around 5-10oz.).

Nah, I get why people don't love sweet shit. And given your love of more traditional styles, I already would've guessed you enjoy balance.

I have a pretty high tolerance for sweet; I'd typically down a bottle of Dark Lord myself, in one sitting, back when I drank it.
