I'm having a Bob as well, thinking it's ok, but $19 plus out the door is tough.

    Synopsis:
A bit confusing. Given the name I was expecting spicy and savory (even cheesy, which I dig), but instead this is a rather sweet ipa. The flavors are appealing, but not clear what OH is going for with this line of ipas. Either way, very glad to try it. Thanks again Azi!

Happy Sunday/Veterans day NBS players. A rather cold fall day here on the island. I’m on my way to the Jets/Bills game today and making a stop at Rattle and Hum West in the big city. Waiting for my friend to show up to head out to the stadium.

My new beer today is Magic Green Nuggets, dipa, from Other Half. The brew checks in at
10.8% abv and features Segal Ranch high oil cascade hops.

A murky yellowish color on the pour. Nose is tropical fruit. A dry/fruity start that flows smooth and finishes with subtle bitter. Nice fruit notes of Mellon, grape, and tangerine. A moderate mouth feel. It does have a slick oily feel but that might be impressions too.

Overall, not my favorite from them but still pretty nice hop juice. I’m right around a 4 here players,

T-The taste follows the nose with roasted malts, dark chocolate and a generous bourbon flavors
M-A medium bodied moderately carbonated beer with the flavors opening up as the beer warms
O-A very nicely balanced Russian Imperial Stout

So I'm doing a This is Bob as well, Greywulfken laid it out pretty well so I won't be redundant. I find there's such a sameness to this style of beer, imagine being bored by mostly 4.25 beers right? I'm not sure I'd rate this one that high, there's something at the finish that I'm finding harsh and it's not simply bitter. Burials one of my top two breweries in NC, but I'd say this is a slight miss, I treasure terriffic finishing beers and that's where it misses, could be the hop combo of Motueka or the Idaho 7, the Citra is very common. Maybe a 3.75 or so, the lacing is pretty good, but the head retention is thin as well, nose a bit weak after a vigorous pour. IMO a good beer but not worth eating up a $20 bill.

New Beer Sunday: New England IPA

Afternoon NBSers, with a heads up for fans of NE IPAs.

Today’s lunch beer is Shadynasty’s from Odd Sides Ale.

As usual my review, subject to revision until I start eating or finish the beer, can be found here:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22564/336188/?ba=drtth#review

Not surprisingly this beer is about the tropical fruit flavors of the hops. The light crackery malt provides just enough sweetness to balance the hop bitterness and allow the tropical fruits to show and meld nicely with the bitterness from the grapefruit zest and resin. This is my second beer from this brewery and as did the first one it interests me in seeking out more beers from Odd Side Ales.

    Cheers all!

No really a cheap shot. I have no issue with him drinking a beer on say a Sat and posting it to this thread, it's a new beer to him and I'm ok with that. He doesn't drink on Sunday , that's ok. Really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

L-The beer pours hazy and orange with a 2 fingers of white head. The head recedes to a thin film leaving patchy lacing behind.
S-The nose is loaded with citrus fruits. Orange is predominant with sweet tangerine lurking behind and coming to the forefront when swirled.
T-Overall this is very balanced NEIPA with a very mild bitterness. Citrus flavors of orange and tangerine with a mild grapefruit linger.
M- Overall the mouthfeel is medium full. The beer, while not slick per se, has a nice coating quality which really keeps the flavors lingering on the tongue. Carbonation is on the lighter side of medium.
O- One of the best if not the best NEIPA that I've had that didn't come from New England. One of the best I've had overall in all honesty. Well worth taking the time to acquire. Highly recommended.

Lest I not forget the Vets today, a simple thank you isn't nearly good enough. Freedom is never free it's paid for in blood and pain.

My Uncle Dan Usmc wounded on Iwo Jima.
My Uncle Tony USA killed in Sicily.
My Cousin Anthony USA Nam Vet
My son Ray Briggs USAF who attached to Army, fighting PTSD after deployment to Afghanastan with the Army's 10th Mountain.

Sometimes after its all over and it's done some are still fighting a war. Not all scars are visible.

Greetings, fellow NBSers, and thanks to @lordofthewiens for getting us going this Veterans Day Sunday.

Last week I made no NBS post, as I had no new beer. I was visiting my folks in my hometown, as my Mom's birthday was last Sunday. While I was there, they gave me some souvenir items you can see pictured below that they picked up in Hawaii. They spent a week on the Big Island and four days on Oahu.

Cold, damp and gray in the wilds of Spokanistan this morning. On Friday we received our first snow, maybe an inch, falling between one pm and around 4. As usual, most people had forgotten how to drive in it. Right now it's 29° outside, so I'm content to sit indoors and drink that 100% Kona coffee.

I'll be back with some new beers today, as I've several categorically correct candidates for consumption.

My neighbor, who is typically a Keystone Light drinker (has a keg on tap in his garage), has been delving into craft beer. Sometimes, I'll take over a mix six of beers I think he and his wife might like. Earlier in the week, he gave me a craft beer to try that he'd found on sale for $1.00 per bottle; probably past the best-buy date. It is a Long Trail Green Blaze IPA, which is 6.5% ABV and 60 IBUs. I just cracked it open after a 10-mile hike. I'd never tried it before today. Here's what I thought.

    A - Golden-orange with a 3/4-finger white head and decent lace
S - Melon, honey, graham cracker, flowery and sweet. Pleasant.
T - Much like the aroma with the addition of some pine, ripe peach and herbal spice. Mild-moderate bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium body and carbonation. Mildly resinous and prickly.
O - A solid, West-Coast-influenced IPA. I enjoyed it and will have it again.

Nod Hill's Super Mantis (as if there were any other kind) - 10/31/18 canning of this dry hopped Citra and Galaxy double IPA, featuring pale and Munich malts and flaked oats... Pale gold body, opaque, with a finger or two of clean white foam on top and sheets of lacing trailing behind... More grapefruit forward than my other beers today, with a clean, sharp edge... Bitterness is crisp, sugars like candied pineapple and grapefruit, and a juicy underbelly sure to please fans of the NEDIPA... Medium-bodied and soft, with a nice sweetness - something of a treat really - candied grapefruit with rich tropical undertones seems to be the theme here, and I'm not complaining... The only knock being, aside from some subtle flavor variations, it's "simply" another great beer in that DIPA/NEIPA styling...
