Contemplating on how many bottles to get of this release. Very new to trading, but my nephew who has been trading for some time said to get as many PCC bottles as I can since it was a colab. I got 12 and had no problem trading them for beers I like to drink. Should I do at least that for this release or will it not be in as much of a demand as PCC?

It won't be in as much demand as PCC, but still a great beer.. If you have the cash for it, then get as many as you can.

PS: ISO PCC. hit me up if you have one to spare

Ok thanks. I actually bought PCC to save cash. Seems like I could get 3 times it's value in beer for what I paid for it. I'm down to my last bottle of Paisly after trading for some Tired Hands OV and Boo Berry! Luckily my fridge is stocked enough to last me through the winter...

REN should trade a little bit higher but year in year out DSN has been pretty good just not trading as high as FO. It might this year given its limit 3pp.

Why is that? He's buying beer to trade for stuff he wants to try? Isn't that what everyone else is doing? That's exactly what Im doing. How else am I ever going to try other half, side project, 450, angry chair and what ever other breweries that in demand. He's not buying to sell them. No one's going trade a bottle of maman for 1 bottle of PCC, not even $4$.

Haters will hate. It's funny because everyone I have traded with has thanked me for helping them get some beer they would have never had the chance to get otherwise. Plus I got to try some of that amazing FL beer from angry chair also. Looking forward to trying a few of the BA Popinski's I picked up in trade!

PCC was 3pp, so getting 12 of this beer means the OP bought not only his allocation, but also used 3 mules to get a beer he doesn't even like. As the OP is new to trading, I bet he was just hoping to try out some new stuff he couldn't get, and not intending to be crummy, but to a lot of us, this sort of behavior rubs us the wrong way.

I personally react the same way when I see someone immediately flipping their entire 6-bottle Cantillon pack for whales. I'm just not a fan of people buying beer solely for the purpose of flipping. Buy some beer to drink, and maybe decide to trade a few if the right offer comes up. Buy some beer to hook up your buddy who has been dying to try the beer. That's cool too. But if you're buying just to flip, please just let the people who really want the beer (hopefully the locals) buy it instead.

Hopefully at least through the OP's trades, they've already started to build some good relationships with other traders. Maybe the OP even has a new buddy that can hook him up with Angry Chair in the future. That's what trading's all about! Cheers!

Huhhh?? So let me get this straight. It's ok to trade beer unless i'm buying it with the sole intention of trading it?
    That's why your upset?
How do you expect me to get beer to trade if I don't buy beer to trade? How am I supposed to get to try the few hundred great beers on my bucket list if I only buy 3 at a time to trade with? I mean I don't understand your logic of only buying 3 beers. Heck I hope to get a full case of the next BL release and have not only 3 mules lined up but 6! This just means I get to trade that many more beers and get to try a LOT more new beers!

I'm to the point where I have traded and tried enough beers to know what I'm looking for and what's worth it. However it takes time and money. Eventually people stop buying so much and someone new comes along and takes that person's place. Again no one is trading big whales for little whales and sometimes you need a lot of little whales to catch the big one. I for one have a life that requires working and alloting time for more important things. So if that means buying more than my allotment of beer so I don't have to spend more time and money chasing just my allotment then so be it. Trading does help with building relationships with other traders and makes it easier for the future trades. It's so difficult to get ipas from great notion or monkish these days that you need something big. Something my wife used to tell me, in jest, don't hate the player hate the game. Play on brotha:beers::beers::beer:

Btw I'm from SF and its not easy trading Bay area brews for big stuff but I make due. However with everyone stepping up their game, I'm happy with all the local stuff thats coming out. Lots of smaller lesser knows like bare bottle and alpha acid are brewing some amazing stuff that I don't find the need to trade so much. So there's that.

Yeah, pretty much sums up what I'm doing. I joined the forum over 10 years ago and usually just drink my locals since I'm surrounded by lots of great beer. However I'm finding out that there is a LOT more great beer to try.

As a result of my trading efforts I've been fortunate enough to have tried more than 8 different Great Notion beers and at least a dozen monkish beers and looking forward to try even more!

I don't have a problem with people buying a several extra bottles of a beer with the intention of likely trading them. However, when people show up at releases with giant mule teams, for a beer to flip that they don't even care about, well that's a different story. There are plenty of other ways to try a bunch of (out of distro) bucket list beers without showing up at releases with a bunch of mules. Some include beer festivals, bottle share groups, and beer travel. And then there's trading of course.

You don't see the irony is this? How can someone trade from something if they have nothing to trade? It's called supply and demand and PCC was is demand and the op found an opportunity to buy what was in demand. We are talking about 12 bottles here, so he got 3 other people to help him out, not a big deal. I heard of people getting cases of fo and trading cases for hard to get beers. Good for them if that's what it takes. I was able to go down pick up my 4 bottles of fo but I still sought out more fo bottles(10 altogether) so I could trade. I was able to get beers like md5, black gold, angry chair stouts and great notion beers. Again not everyone has a chance to go to beer festivals, join beer sharing groups or travel. But if I've got a chance to get extra beer so I can trade so be it. I will unfollow this thread as it is ridiculous that some people find it unpopular to do what the op did. Get a life, literally get a life. Enjoy it with beer and remember you can't make everyone happy.

I don't think anyone has a problem with trading 2 out of an allotment of 3. I think people get upset when you go past that allotment and use mules to get more than the allotment (just to trade, or worse, sell) And the other people trying, who would really love to try the beer, get none.
