I fully expect this to happen to me tomorrow with regards to the variants, at least. I imagine I'll get the 3 regular, but 0 variants.

 

Can we all have a set of balls tomorrow and actually call out the line cutters? I get breweries like HA don't give a shit about line cutting (there were numerous examples at Benthic last year) but we really need to call this shit out when we see it. Especially given the updated allotments.

 

If I see it, I'll always call it out. Have no problem telling some shitlord to move to the back of the line.

If you're there before 10am, though, save me a spot.

I think you should probably relax a little. I don’t think they “encouraged” anyone to do the pre-sale and Friday release. I think it was a logical thing to point out, as the allocation in pre-sale was less than what it would be Friday. So, if you wanted to get the full allocation, you’d still have to go to Lincoln.

I don’t think they’re doing anything outrageous or trying to screw anyone over. They’ve made a couple bad decisions/estimates, but that’s about it.

 

This is Chicago beer. Half the line will be double dippers.

 

I'm actually ok with these reduced allotments. The way I look at it is this beer makes it into more peoples' hands and I save $60 by getting one less Benthic and one less double barrel Benthic.

 

I'm not saying they're purposely doing it. But if they want to be fair about it, the pre-sale winners probably shouldn't be able to get another full allotment. That wasn't the purpose of the pre-sale, as has already been discussed. They've made some terrible mistakes on this release, and it's going to be a shitshow because of it, and has already been one so far.

And it's a stretch to say they didn't encourage it.

I'm plenty relaxed. Not hard to see why people would be irritated/frustrated by this whole thing, though. I wasn't exactly the only one in this thread to get frustrated by the news over the last few pages since yesterday morning's disaster.

 

Why can't HA just put a big black X on hands? The reduced allotments give the appearance they give a shit and want more people to have a chance at buying bottles. Why not take a small, actual step to ensure that?

 

They have it as a "per day" limit that they tweeted out. So my assumption is they're going to stamp hands or put a line on your hand, or whatever.

 

If an X magically appeared on my hand when I got through on the presale, I'd be both freaked the f*ck out and impressed.

Edit: I'd be exceptionally impressed if it was impossible to wash off before approximately 1 PM Friday.

I see two mistakes that were made. First, they chose a bad online ticketing system. I’m pretty sure they didn’t purposely choose a bad site, and probably had assurances from the company that their orders could be handled properly.

Second, they estimated wrong on their yields. I know nothing about barrel aging, lost beer, etc. to say how bad a mistake that was, but I’m guessing it happens a lot of times to brewers.

I wouldn’t classify either of those as terrible, but they unfortunately had consequences that led to some folks getting upset.

 

My guess is he meant for those in line tomorrow to prevent the guys looping around to try and grab more.

 

Yes, but he's quoting a guy who meant people who bought pre-sale.

Looping isn't going to be a problem, at least not for variants. There will be more than 300 people at open tomorrow.

 

Lol. Tinfoil hats apply to conspiracy theories, not exaggerations. Exaggerations are called hyperbole. And yes, I was a bit hyperbolic.

Point being, if their estimates were off, they could change things, no? They changed it to lower the allotments, no? How hard would it be to say, if you won a presale, you can't get another full allotment, due to the lower than expected yield?

Guys, please keep all negativity in the direction of HA for the purposes of today's thread additions. Tomorrow I'm sure there will be plenty of beer nerds to be angry at.
