Monk's isn't a brewery; their house beer is brewed by Stoudts at Stoudts, picturesque on the inside is really a huge overstatement, and their prices, events, and crowd all suck, so I'm not listening to another word you have to say. Monk's is for wannabe's. Shut up.

Not much scenery outside, but Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh has to be in one of the coolest buildings.

I live close enough to go whenever I want, but wouldn't for the same reasons.

Too many good bars in Philly at this point.
Monk's is surviving on dumb nostalgia and a reputation it earned a long time ago, that imo is deteriorating rapidly.

I had a great dinner there and the taps prices were a bit high, but so is everywhere else in that area of the city, great staff , great food ,excellent tap and bottled beer selections and also had a nice wine selection. I would go again in a minute.

Whadya' mean by incredible view? There's an incredibly big boulder right in the way. Nice boulder, though.

Brewery Vivant is a pretty cool place. Not a church, as you would initially think. Stone, big wood beams, awesomeness.

Volcano Brewing in Costa Rica on Lake Arenal, amazing view. One of two craft breweries in Costa Rica. [IMG]

    That's cool.
Personally, I couldn't describe the staff, atmosphere, or food as anything but bad in my last 3 visits and won't go back again.
For the price, all of those things would have to be great for me to justify the cost.

I'll go to Devil's Den, among other places, over Monk's any day of the year.

Have just been there, I would have to say Full Sail is pretty awesome. The view from the brewpub looks out onto the water. You can see the silos in the lower middle.

I will add my vote for Jolly Pumpkin Traverse City. It's tucked back on the Old Mission Pennisula and overlooks Lake Michigan, it's heavily wooded, and the actual brewpub is a restored old lodge I believe.

If I'm ever in Pacific City when the sirens sound, I'm just going to head for Pelican and enjoy one last pint as the wave comes in.
